I bought one of these first to try it out before replacing all 4 of my rubber-pad toms, and I was pleased with the result, so I ordered three more. I had read that they are usually shipped a little slack, so the first thing I did was to tighten the mesh (alternating the way you would tighten lug nuts, but only a little at a time). I liked the action on the first one, and I wanted to set the other three the same. I noticed that, even without power, the mesh produces a soft, audible tone when struck, so I "tuned" all the other toms to match that pitch. That seemed to work to match the action.The diameter is slightly larger than the rubber-pad toms, so you have to adjust the spacing a bit if you have the drums set close together. The existing cords worked, so I only needed one of the supplied cords (for the 4th mesh tom). I had replaced the snare pad with a full-size mesh snare of another brand (and a drum stand), so I had repurposed that as the 4th tom. I also had bought a second crash, so that completes the set to the full capability of the controller. I just wish it had something different for the cymbals, something that doesn't make so much noise. Drums have never been my main instrument, so I doubt I'll spend any more on drums for upgrades.

Purchased as a replacement head for full electric kit. Have purchased this product MANY times for the snare- given the word “many” clearly the mesh is not durable and has a short life on a key kit piece like the snare. Works great for other parts of the kit, the bounce back is good enough for the toms, but it cannot withstand the hard hits and frequent use on a snare. The mesh has too much “give” for a snare- would like it to be “tighter” as it hinders my rolls.

Sounds great, love the mesh and the ability to tighten/loosen mesh gave it some versatility. Only one zone, so this can only replace toms. I am using the nitro on my older Alesis DM6 brain and it works great

Been using my Alesis DM7 kit for a real long time, pads needed to be replaced. This replacement Nitro mesh pad (yes, compatible with my older DM7) works very well (bought 2), immediately restored input volume to the drum “brain”. Very responsive, with the mesh pad holding up well so far - time will tell. Bought the pad only, can’t comment on the mounting hardware
