Mr. Subaru said to use and I did. Boy am I happy. My 2012 Outback is happy and good for another 100 thousand miles. Took my time and everything fit - installed properly without any glitches.

Bought this kit for my 2009 Forester and provided it to my technician to install. Picked up a Subaru OEM thermostat here on Amazon, too. All went perfectly and he was impressed by the quality of the kit. This is the way to go!

If you have a Subaru you want this brand. The parts are all Japanese made and fit perfectly. Quality is much better than the aftermarket stuff I have seen. Don’t risk destroying your engine with the cheap bearings on some of the aftermarket kits. Everything in this kit fit my 2010 Impreza EJ253 SOHC perfectly.

Perfect kit installed no problem. Comes with instructions that list all the torque values and belt routing. Good quality Japanese bearings. Take note: there is one idler pulley that looked different from the OEM. It’s the cogged roller next to the water pump. It’s just a slightly different design but the dimensions are the same. It confused me for a few minutes but it’s even mentioned in the instructions. It works perfectly just make sure you put it on the right way.Overall great kit and I’d definitely recommend it or buy it again.

So you might have heard that some of the older Gates kits had Chinese bearings. This doesn't. Now oem has a crush gasket for the water pump. Some kits don't have it and require messy glue. This kit has the crush washer. I also replaced the timing belt cover hardware with the kit made for wrx. That worked great. Also got the company 23 tools for the job, as the cam pulley was damaged by previous owner. So this all worked out. Oh I also was missing the oem belt guide for the crank. So I bought an aftermarket one for the wrx. That works perfectly.

In researching timing belt and water pump kit for the 2.5 L Subaru motor, this brand came with the highest recommendations from mechanics. Do not go with anything other than this brand or the Subaru OEM. The quality is here. Just a quick note, I checked the price for the Aisin kit from our local parts store and it was almost twice as expensive.

2011 Subaru Outback 2.5 102,000 miles.Recently handed this car off to our college-bound son. Had the brakes done, new tires, oil changed, wheel alignment. All done at local shops. Looked at the recommended service items, of which one was timing belt replacement. Called a few local shops, and the figures they were quoting were ridiculous. I had one say $2500!!!Did some online sleuthing, and discovered that the timing belt change (plus water pump) seemed to not be out of my capabilities.I have a decent collection of tools, and decided to go for it myself. A decent torque wrench and metric socket set is essential. There is a YouTube channel called MrSubaru, and this guy gives pretty clear instruction on how to do this. This Aisin kit is pretty much what is recommended for Subarus. The parts are Japan quality.Took me a number of hours to do this, but if I had to do it again I think I could probably do it in an hour, maybe 2.Car runs great, and should be set for another 100,000 miles.I also replaced the serpentine belt while doing this, as it needs to be removed anyway during the procedure. You’ll also need to get the Subaru coolant if you replace the water pump (why not, it’s in the kit!). I bought 2 gallons here on Amazon.Good luck.

High quality, lower priced timing belt kit with all top notch OEM brands for everything save perhaps the tensioner, as no "Japan" casting is to be seen. (But tensioner beautiful / flawless! Would Highly recommend tensioner priming / testing procedure as outlined in the very clearly written provided instruction pamphlet. These things have a sealed oil system that will redistribute during shipping as they are usually laying for quite some time on their side or upside down, 'Japan' or not! If nervous about it, practice on your old tensioner first!!) I must admit I skipped replacing the water pump as my original was still fine, but the one supplied in the kit looks spot on identical to what is in there, and is supplied with the proper metal gasket and odd black rubber stops needed around some edges. Then there is the belt quality. Stellar, as far as I can discern. Mitsuboshi is the OEM for Subaru labeled belts, and was spot on in thickness and conveniently marked for setup. As my original belt was still near perfect at 136k miles, I wanted to stick with Mitsuboshi!!
