I love the sound! I bought this for my kids to play. This is a perfect size and volume for them. It is well constructed and sturdy for handling. It has a wonderful feel. The surface has a thinly applied protective coating. You can still feel the grain and the dips and holes.Some of the reviews complained of the speed at which the filler falls. This can be controlled by how quickly/slowly you turn the stick. (see video).Couldn't ask for more esp. considering the price.Pros:Sounds wonderfulPerfectly audible, but not too loudMulti- sensory delightNatural grainy feel, but not splinteryGood size for kidsPersonal controlCons:The finish isn't the prettiest: you can see a mily substance pooled in the pitting. I have contacted the company to find out what the finish is. I would like my youngest to be able to handle it and it will definitely be going into her mouth. WIll update when I hear back from them.

Somehow I didn't connect the stock photo with the reality of how small 10" really is.You don't get the resonance and stamina of a longer stick, but it sounds nice for what it is.It is otherwise EXACTLY everything an authentic, lovely, natural rain stick should be.Very durable, thank you!
