Bought for windsurfing and it works perfect. Not worried of my insta getting lost and getting amazing videos.

On pictures, the mount looks very promising and well-engineered, but in practice, there are issues that make this mount useless for my application. I'm into windsurfing, and I had very high hopes for the mount, as it allows me to mount an action camera on a mast or a boom. I tried to mount a Sony action camera on the mast and boom, and in both cases, the mount did not hold the camera in a desired position.Issues:- No matter how hard I tried to tighten the screw, the mount didn't hold the camera and was rotating along the tube axis on any bump. There are plenty of bumps in windsurfing, and constantly correcting the camera's position is annoying, to say the least.- The mount has only a GoPro attachment. In order to mount a camera with a 1/4 screw, an adapter is needed. I used a GoPro to 1/4 adapter, and again, no matter how hard I tried to tighten the adapter screw, it didn't hold camera in place.Maybe this adapter works okay with foil, as it's a less bumpy ride, but with windsurfing, it didn't work for me, unfortunately.

For windsurfing, this is currently the best mount on the market. It’s noticeably lighter and more compact than the original Flymount, and allows for mast centre filming, so that both tacks are captured. I’ve been using the Aero 40 with a GoPro Max, and it gives a rock solid connection - no movement at all during several failed loop attempts. The adjustment system is really easy to use, with just one lever/knob that tightens everything. The mount comes with a 6ft length of safety line - a little too long for me, but I just cut it to length, and sealed the end with a lighter. I assume the extra length allows people to attach from mast tip to just above the boom, as some sails do have a rope loop at the mast tip.The build quality is excellent, with all parts designed to cope with saltwater - particularly important for anyone using it with water sports equipment. I used to have a cheaper mast mount (made by another company) that I bought to film both tacks, but the metal parts corroded and the mount detached from the mast whilst sailing.Being so compact, the Aero 40 also has great potential for handlebar and frame mounting on bikes - I’ll be testing that out over the next weekend!
