About this item

  • Engineered to add horsepower and reduce restriction compared to OEM air intakes
  • All AEM Air Intakes come with a lifetime DRYFLOW Synthetic air filter with great filtration
  • Guaranteed for the life of your car or truck
  • Manufactured in the USA

AEM Air Intake Systems are designed to produce massive horsepower and torque gains as well as better engine sound when used as a replacement for the factory airbox and air filter. AEM intake systems are designed, tuned, and dyno-tested to fit specific cars and trucks. These air intakes usually include an oversized AEM Dryflow synthetic washable air filter for outstanding air flow, filtration, and performance while allowing easy oil-free cleaning. Most AEM intake systems use mandrel-bent aluminum intake tubes, powder coated heat shields, and high quality hardware designed to reduce restriction and reduce intake temperature. The design and components of each intake system vary so consult the installation instructions for more information on the contents of each part number. AEM manufactures a variety of intake kit styles including short ram intakes, cold air intakes, dual-chamber intakes, Brute Force intakes for trucks and SUV's, and Brute Force HD intakes for diesel applications.

The Good:- An intake is a MUST modification for the Mazdaspeed Miata- CARB legal for emissions- Came with OK directions (missing a few steps, but can figure it out)The Bad:- Missing multiple parts (hose clamps, rubber trim inside the bracket)- Came with a broken aluminum bar that's used to mount the 3 fuse boxesI couldn't return the intake because I previously took my OEM intake out and the car needed to be used. I also didn't check the contents of the kit before I started. Like I said, I didn't have time to return it...or else I would have. The Install:- I am pretty auto mechanical savvy, but this was a pain. I would take the OEM intake off one day and install the AEM intake the next day. A lot of the OEM hoses were fused on and make sure to have spring clamp pliers.- Make sure to buy extra 3/4 heater hose from Autozone or any auto store. The pre-cut hoses from AEM are not the right sizes. Also buy a few extra hose clamps to fit 3/4 hose.- Buy a pack of rubber hose caps. There is a manifold bolt that ends up touching the rubber intake coupler near the turbo inlet. One of the rubber caps fit perfect on the end of the bolt. I'd rather have rubber rubbing rubber than metal rubbing rubber.

Installation was a pain definitely not for the novice but to the point. Great sound to the car, the spool up is instant and restriction free.
