I cannot sing enough praises about the product. It's easy to install (would recommend you do it with 2 people), looks neat and I'm sure will last a long a time. I had an old double gate that was sagging and impossible to open. Used the kit to install new gates and it was super easy to do. Keep in mind that bolting in the hinge supports can be tough so have a few solutions in mind to screw the metal into the wood post.

This is the fourth time I have purchased this gate. I have built and installed four of these gates single-handed. They are easy to assemble. The hardest part was hanging the gate by myself because I built it, tested it, put it back on the ground and added the slats to it while on the ground, so that made it a little heavier to lift and hang. The instructions are amazing - well done whoever wrote those. I've had some of these gates for 6 years now and they look and work as well as the day Installed them. They are strong, and don't sag. The post that the hinges are affixed to might warp ever so slightly over time, making the gate droop ever so slightly to the latch side. All you have to do then is adjust the stainless still wire cable a bit and it will pull the gate back up into fully parallel to the ground. Great gate. Absolutely recommend.

This kit came complete. Had everything even a very nice latch. I didn't use the hinges because I mounted it on wooden posts so I supplied my own leaf style steel hinges and mounted those with lag bolts into the posts and bolts through the steel gate frame. The hinges supplied were adequate but would have centered the gate in the opening and I wanted it butted up to the front of the posts. The frame is sturdy enough once you add your own 2 x 4's cut the correct lenth. I built and hung the gate frame prior to cutting the 2 x 4's so I new what the exact lenth was. It went together fairly quick and straightforward without much fuss. Some of the reviews complained of the supplied hinges not clamping tight enough to keep the frame from sliding down inside them. If this happens to you just put an extra screw into the frame above the hinge and that will prevent that from happening. I suggest completely assembling and hanging the gate including what ever material you are siding it with before putting those extra hinge screws in the frame. That way if you need to make height adjustments you can do easily. When you've tried it out and are happy it works easily the put the screws just above the hinges so it stays the height you wanted. After I mounted the cedar siding on mine I found out my sidewalk was slightly higher on one side and the gate would not clear it without scraping. Since I had improvised my own hinges and couldn't easily move them I had to remove some of the cedar boards and cut them 1/2 inch shorter at the bottom. I've had it up a few weeks now and it stll works perfect.

This product easily spanned a 61" gate opening for my application. Many of the other reviews must have been read by the manufacturer because i did not have any issue in following the directions and some of the comments in the negative reviews, where instructions seemed incomplete or confusing were addressed almost verbatim in the directions i received...an example would be making sure you use the correct side by the hinges so that the cable attachment hole is at the top. I found that that the 2x4s needed to be cut about 5.75 inches shorter than the total span of your gate opening and it was helpful to place a 1x4 board against the latch side post so that you could use a woodworking clamp to hold the fully expanded top section of the gate to the latch side post while the hinge side was attached to the hinge. This allowed me to have a 3/4 in gap on the latch side of the gate and easily measure the width of the 2x4s to be cut. There really is no other way to fully extend the bars and have them stay out. As another review said, the size of the extensions are standard square-stock dimensions and so they do not fit together tightly and need to be screwed into the 2x4 to have any rigidity. The directions say to leave an inch gap on the latch side...but i see no reason to do so, the depth provided by the 1x4 seemed more than adequate. All you really need to clear on that side is the hex head self-tapping screws that are used to attach the latch pin. This allows for a gate with more than enough privacy in my opinion...plus you can always attach some of your gate material so that it overhangs the gaps.Once the 2x4s were cut i used clamps to hold them in place while i screwed it all together. Contrary to earlier reviews, I found the hardware to be passable in quality, though i still used some star-drive decking screws of my own for most of the work. The self tapping screws for the latch plate were hex head...which i have a bit for on my drill, but if you didnt they would be a bear to use. With my drill they went in just fine. I also found the cable and turn-buckle set up to work just fine, even with a 5 foot gate i had more than enough wire left over.I also found that the hinges (for an inside swinging gate) in the directions stated to screw them in until an inch of hinge stuck out, however in doing so the gate cannot swing in to be "perpendicular" to the gate opening due to the hinge clamps hitting the 4x4 or 6x6 inch post. I found that turning the hinges so that they were 1.25 inches out fixed this problem. All in all I have a very square and sturdy gate frame that swings easily. One star knocked off because it would be nice if the square stock extensions had tighter tolerances so that you could actually "adjust a gate" more easily instead of having to rig some clamps to get an accurate measurement. It is not until you have accurately measured and cut 2x4s that you can actually assess how well your gate will fit.
