Good index card holders are getting harder and harder to find, glad that you can still get these.

Expensive but well-made - the box base is metal, that's why I splashed out as it's straightaway much sturdier than plastic. Bought in colour white; good to have colour and size choices; now that I've bought this product if I want another index box I'll probably buy from this range so they co-ordinate.The lid is a nice weight, and stays up by itself when opened fully, and it's totally transparent so you can see the contents without having to open it.The lid's odd, as it rests when it's closed, and an unexpectedly large amount of fully open space at the box's front and back, so if you like your box contents fully enclosed against dust & dirt then this product isn't for you. As it is, the lid can only protect against dust falling directly from above! You need to wipe it down regularly, to maintain the pristine look. The metal front is totally flat. By itself it looks like a rather large wall of blank, but it'd be a good place to attach a sizeable box contents label. The product description says the box can take "about 600 cards". I can attest to that as I've put the several packs of index cards in them, ready to use soon on a major indexing project, and it takes 600 cards plus the front and back cards that those cards came packed with, plus the Acrimet alphabetical tabbed divider cards, another brand's tabbed divider cards, and the Acrimet large grey plastic slottable-in plastic grey divider. But when the box is that full, it becomes a little difficult to look through the cards as in you can't angle a card backwards quite as much as when there's an awful lot fewer cards in it.The Acrimet alphabetical tabbed divider cards are entirely plain white on the back, so if you want to use them to label your own tabs then just turn them round. The plastic grey divider is a tiny bit fiddly to slot in because you have to get the "arms" on each side into the drop-slot on each side of the box at the same time. You can buy that divider separately if wished.Because there's no mechanism that holds the lid closed, the box needs to be moved by supporting the box base and not by trying to lift it solely by its lid.It won't fit into a standard office desk drawer (which are usually 6 to 10cm high) but it does fit neatly and comfortably into a 15cm high drawer (e.g. the popular IKEA Alex desk drawers), though of course the lid opens well above the height of the drawer.

The "letter "A" tab was not there. In place was a blank tab.

Sturdy organizer box, just what I needed for ready access to addresses/phone numbers without having to hunt for often misplaced notebooks.

Way too big for a business cards organiser - my mistake certainly for not checking measurements closer. Good, quality product otherwise. But of no use for me - returned.

This is a great organizational tool for my seed collection for my vegetable garden! It is the size for index cards, but can used for so many things!

Love this card file!!! I was using a small one and decided to get a bigger one for more cards. It is durable, easy to use and looks great on my desk.

This little box is amazingly sturdy and well-made. I purchased it to organize and store all of the cards included in our homeschool reading/spelling program. This box is wider than those cards, but still does the job. The piece that can adjust for how much space you're using works quite well. I'm very pleased with this and may buy others to use for flash cards for vocabulary, sight words, multiplication facts, and more.

Excellent! Should withstand my family of 10!! I was hesitant to spend this much for an index card holder. I’m very glad I did. It’s well weighted and sturdy. It gets moved around a lot. I don’t feel like it’s going to break. Can’t say that for much with such a large family.

My needs outgrew the smaller sized 3X5 file-box I'd been using and couldn't find anything of suitable quality at area stores. So I turned to Amazon. This box is pretty much as pictured and it's quite well constructed. Made of metal, its surface is nicely painted (mine's white). Small rubber feet prevent it from scratching or sliding around. I think it would look nice just about anywhere. The lid is made of good quality plastic. Since it is clear, you see the cards inside when the lid's closed. It's hinged at the back and remains upright when raised, the hinge supplying enough friction to hold it in place.Box width accomidates 3X5 index cards. It measures about 8" deep. A set of nice alphabet labeled dividers is included. You also receive a plastic divider that clips into slots at the side and base of the box. This provides an adjustable "stop" for when you only need to use a portion of the box. It's the only aspect I would criticize. The divider doesn't lock very securely in place, so is easy to knock loose accidentally when you're working. Not a deal-breaker. But I'm surprised it wasn't better designed, since the other aspects of the box are so nice.
