It provides a signal to the engine control module, which compares the camshaft position with the crankshaft position to determine ignition and fuel injection timing. This original equipment engine camshaft position sensor has been manufactured to fit your GM vehicle, providing the same performance, durability, and service life you expect from General Motors.

To my amazement, this was the correct part for a 2005 C6 corvette and I can tell the difference right after it was installed. Its much easier for the car to start. I'm not sure why I had oil in this area prior to changing out this part.

After doing a DOD delete on my 2013 Silverado I was swapping front covers and broke my old cam sensor getting it out. Went on to start the truck and would crank for an extended period and throw a P0010 and run fine after that. Swapped cam sensors and the truck has been great.

I have hundreds of hours doing do-it-myself work on my cars over the years but getting the crank pulley pulled out enough (even with a puller) was one of my toughest jobs. This certainly fixed the problem with my Avalanche and it's running great again. Please do yourself a favor and only get OEM (ACDelco) parts - this is not the job you want to do again because a less-than-$40 sensor from some third party Asian company cut corners and didn't have the quality of this one.

A-1 Fit but it took the better part of 4 hours and a complete set of new engine cooling parts. The old camshaft sensor after i got the water pump removed i had to use my Drill and a 5/16" bit and drill the sensor out its not a hour project its not for inexperienced mechanics to do. There were steps that led up to deciding to drill as last resort i got lucky and surprised my own self again. But the problem was actually to large of alternator and i had the 40 AMP recommended BUS Fuse in the Start fuse console and i down sized to 20 AMP fuse.
