Q1: Does the current transformer need to distinguish between the L line and N line?
A1: No, it doesn't. Just choose one of them. However, please do not pass both the neutral and live wires through it simultaneously.
Q2: Does the current transformer need to be adjusted according to the direction of current flow?
A2: Not at all. This product is very user-friendly.
Q3: what is the inner diameter of the split core CT?
A3: It's approximately 0.5 inches wide, which accommodates the vast majority of wire diameters that meet AWG specifications.
Q4: Can the wiring of the current transformer be extended?
A4: It's not recommended to extend the wiring. When the current transformer's wire length exceeds 50 centimeters, it significantly reduces accuracy.
Q5: How long are the leads between the unit and the split transformer inductive pickup?
A5: About 22 cm (8.6 inches). You can extend the line longer, but do not exceed 50 cm (19.6 inches). Too long will cause the accuracy to decrease.

I got the 2 unit kit and use one on each leg of a sub panel I have set up. I can use it to back feed my house with a generator it also has outlets for RVs. They are light weight so I used a wide piece of Velcro to hold them in the water tight box. I crimped wire Ferrules on because the terminals are small and close together this cuts down on the chance of stray wires that could short across adjacent terminals. I used 16 AWG wire for the power and also to extend the leads on the CT’s.

I purchased these to monitor power quality and usage (amps) in our travel trailer camper.Often we need to know fairly accurately how many amps we are pulling so we can avoid tripping breakers at places we’re visiting. And/or so we can calculate battery runtime estimates.The install was fairly easy, although directions led to some needing to do some guessing. The split CT ring saved us from needing to unwire and rewire existing connections.Although I haven’t checked the calibrated accuracy of the meter readings, they all seem reasonable, based on comparing them to other meters and anticipated values.The downsides are:1) There isn’t a 200A CT available. This results in this product not being usable for main electrical service panels.2) The screen doesn’t mount easily - it has some clips on the side, so we could custom cutout a project box to mount it, but having a ready made box option would be great.3) The screen needs to be powered by a 120v source, which is understandable, but instead of hard wiring it and needing it to be (ideally) behind a breaker, having a plugin AC adapter as an option would also be helpful.4) The wiring connects to the screen via several screw terminals. This includes the 120v wiring. To reduce risk of contacting the wiring, ideally this would be within a case (which isn’t readily available from the company/needs to be custom by the installer). Wrapping with electrical tape is a quick hack, but not ideal. There also isn’t a bezel on the screen edge which makes it more intricate work to mount it with good aesthetics.

Product works as advertised.Installed it to monitor the power consumption of my 2024 Volvo XC60 recharge.Not difficult to install, the plastic case and the split CT is not robust but if you treat it gently, not a problem.I mounted it to the wall next to the 240 volt outlet using velcro tape since the unit is light plastic.The display is very bright, no problems reading it offering you important information.As for the split CT, it should clip fine to the wire. To make sure it wouldn't accidentally open, I used a plastic wire tie.The split CT wires were not long enough for my application but I extended it an additional three feet using a cheap extension chord wire with no problems. I crimped the splice but you can also solder them for a mechanically secure connection.The manual is a little confusing but if you follow the schematic you can easily figure it out.Just remember that for the unit to the unit to do its thing, it must be supplied with whatever voltage you're trying to measure. In my case it was 240 volts. Make sure you properly isolate the wires to avoid getting zapped.My take; it's plenty of bang for the buck and very useful if you want to know how much is costing you in energy to run your appliances.

Used this for my (plug and play) solar array to measure wattage input to the grid.Mounted it in a plastic electronics box with short M+F extension power leads, and so far it works great.Will have to get some more as I will have to separate some of my inverters so that the input doesn't go over 10 amps on the leads. It's great that you can turn off the backlight. Stuart (Australia)

Great Devices. Bought 2 and hooked them up to each side of split phase twist lock connection coming out of my backup generator so I could confirm each side voltage and draw. You must of course sum the 2 readings (watts and volts) to determine total output and draw on the generator. Make sure you use separate AC to power each unit appropriate to the side it is measuring because generators don't always provide exact same voltage on both sides, for example the intelli-meters on Champions only show total voltage. If voltage on each side differs by more than three volts maybe the AVR and brushes need attention. These devices are really informative for balancing loads to the two sides of a generator output.My only criticism is the wiring instructions. The paper instructions in the box show wiring the device using a light bulb symbol and this is where it gets confusing. All light bulb sockets for safety are wired such that the hot is the tip of the bulb socket and the sides are the neutral, so you never get a shock or short when twisting in a screw bulb. Assuming that standard the instructions show the CT installed on the neutral wire when clamp type meters clamp the hot. To make matters a bit more confusing the wiring diagram on the back of the device shows the CT clamped on the hot. Apparently, this device doesn't care about polarity when wiring either the AC or the CT.

Al contratio de lo que dice el vendedor SI funciona par medir 2 fases de 120v cada una en 240v. En este caso hay que alimentar el medidor con las 2 fases (no conectar el neutro) para tener la lectura en 240v y colocar las 2 fases a dentro de la dona y el medidor da lectura de la energia total... Perfecto par medir la carga de un generador 120/240 que utilizamos como respaldo por apagones y temporada de huracan...
