A top rated review said this doesn't work for a nest gen 3. That's not true, his wiring was likely faulty. The job of this device is to convert line voltage to 24v. That is it. A "C" wire is just 24v. This device is a C wire. At no point could it have done anything other than turned on / charged his thermostat.Works great. Plugs right in, easy to use.

Nice to not have to recharge the Ring batteries. Used to have to once a month. Now, they are powered all the time and I don't worry about recharging.

Works perfectly to provide power that allows use of programmable thermostat in home with only a 2-wire connection to an almost inaccessible furnace in a crawl space.

This transformer works perfectly to provide c-wire voltage (24 VAC) to an Emerson Sensi Smart, wifi thermostat, on a two wire, heat only heating system. Simply connect the two wires between the R (or Rh or Rc) and C terminals and it will provide the operating voltage to the thermostat, independent of the 24 VAC the stat uses to call for heat. Running off the thermostat batteries worked, but if the thermostat calls for heat often, they will go dead every month, and then the thermostat stops working, just when you need it most. Bought a second transformer for my second zone running the same thermostat model.

Works perfectly with my smart thermostats (Honeywell T5). Power cord is nice and long too, so you don't have to worry if you don't have an outlet right next to the thermostat.

I wired 4 of these in my house with 4 google nest thermostats. I used a butt splice connector to join the stranded wire and solid wire and the. added a solid pig tail wire to connect to base (as shown in pic).I have a boiler only (heat) 2 wire system. All installs were flawless except for the final one. I noticed the ambient room temperature was 10+ degrees too high and I was eventually getting an equipment error N261. I checked all the wiring repeatedly and. could not see any issues. I grabbed a multi meter and tested all my working thermostats and my one that was not working along with the transformers. Everything checked out between all the wired bases except when I put the multi meter on the existing white wire that was in the wall and the new commom wire. My other other bases was reading 2.1 or so and the base that was not working read 50 or so. I swapped the transformer wire that was connected to the red wire and ultimately R on the base and the white wire that was in the common. After that my multi meter readings matched the other bases. The ambient temperature reads correctly and the N261 error went away…The directions say use white transformer wires interchangeably between C and R. That was not the case for this one thermostat base and transformer. I did not pay attention to what white transformer wires I was using for the other base installations…maybe I got lucky 3 times!? Any how maybe this will help someone else.

I have a two-wire millivolt fireplace that didn’t have a C-wire for my Sensi smart thermostat (which worked as a regular thermostat instead). This very inexpensive adapter turned my simple fireplace into a smart one now controlled by the Sensi app and Alexa. It’s a really good solution to a vexing problem. Includes wiring instructions and a lot of wire to run from the thermostat to the electrical outlet. You can also trim the wires to length.

I took a star off because while the instruction may not be wrong but did not work for me. Here is how I get my Amazon Thermostat to work. Here are some facts first-1. The HVAC does have a C wire but could not power the Amazon Thermostat, it appears that my HVAC C wire has 24 volts but not enough current (amps) to power the Thermostat. Hence need to add the transformer.2. I live in Florida, so the heating and the AC are in one unit, that means the R(H) and RC are jumped together with only 1 Red wire.3. I can't say for other areas but in South Florida this way will work.4. When I followed the transformer instruction and mirror to the Amazon Thermostat, push the right button to connect one transformer wire to RH and the other wire to C and the Red wire from HVAC to R. I only get heat and not AC.5. To correct the issue and viewed at least DIY videos and learn to fix it. You need to merge the Red wire and one of the transformer power wire to a new leg that can insert into the R with the bottom right blue clip pushed up to allow the R and RC jumper to connect internally.Once that was done, everything work correctly. I have have heat and AC. The reason that I had only heat but not AC, because the R in the Amazon Thermostat is for "HEAT" and since you push the right blue clipper down, it disconnect the R and RC. There for there is no power sent to the AC unit.Since the the Amazon Thermostat cannot easily jump the connectors, then you must introduce a 3rd wire for the R connection with transformer power wire, Red from HVAC, bundle all three wire together.Hope this help you to install without a C wire or low amperage C wire. I have to say the Thermostat works great. Good luck.
