Inexpensivecarabiner D snap rings are not conducive to long-term and safe use
- The carabiner D snap ring is stamped out of wire, It is easy to deform after a long time of use, which will affect the fit of the spring gate and have gaps.
- The jaws are a bit sharp when opened, so could be a problem with moving rope and snagging fibres when clipping onto them.
- Rounded edges are much preferred over cheaper carabiner D snap ring which have sharp edges which always seems to catch your sails, line or fingers.

- Custom-designed for marine corrosive environment, Longer service life and rust resistance than 304 stainless steel, and also has excellent wear resistance.
- Excellent corrosion resistance, atmospheric corrosion resistance and high temperature strength, can be used in harsh conditions.
- Excellent high temperature strength, mainly used in seawater equipment, chemical, dye, paper, oxalic acid, fertilizer and other production equipment.

These are nicely finished hooks. I use them to connect my boat’s bow eye to a mooring line. Nice positive action, secure fit and easy to release. After several weeks in salt water no sign of corrosion.

These hooks are great for skidding logs when you are hooking and unhooking the rope repetitivelybecause there is nothing to snag the rope. I will be purchasing more of these!

Briefly, my background — I've dabbled in everything from scouting knots to rock climbing to pulling down trees with a welder's work truck.I really like reliable cheap shackle/carabiner-type equipment that's steel, because it tends to be both stronger and cheaper than rock climber's aluminum equipment. But steel shackles tend to have one downside — they can have sharp edges, sometimes even burrs, that scrape hands or damage rope.This product though, there's zero sharp edges. Also, it looks like it might actually hold more weight than the stated 1000 lbs, it looks really beefy.

I purchased a dive reel to use with a kayak anchor. The reel included a smaller version of this type of snap hook that was a little too small to work with the mushroom anchor. This hook is twice the size of the original reel hook and works much better. It's an impressive hook and worth the money.
