The absolute total best book for needlepoint. History, illustrations, origins of stitches and pictures of stitches make this the ultimate needlepoint companion. This is the real Needlepoint Bible.

Some of the designs are dated now, but this book remains a classic for the needlepointer.

I bought the book because I needed more stitch patterns for some needlepoint quilt patterns I was doing for a gift. This book had more patterns, clearly laid out (thanks to Maggie Lane) and the history behind the patterns was entertaining. Buy it for the wide variety of stitch patterns, clearly laid out and organized. Enjoy it for the history and inspiration.

I have only had a chance to browse this, but I love what I've seen. This book is big like a textbook, which surprised me. It has a lot of inspirational ideas. Shows large details of how to do the stitches and the finished product, and color plates of examples. It's like being a kid in a candy store. I can't wait until I can dig into it further. Definitely a nice reference for any needleworker! Considering its age, I got a very nice used copy at a very good price. I'm very satisfied with my purchase!

The book arrived on time and was in excellent condition. Another classic in a library of embroidery techniques instruction. Plenty of diagrams, clear instruction.

[...] This is a good reference book about development and uses for needlepoint. Not strong on detailed charts. Was written in the seventies. Paper shows it's age. Worth the money.GV4SCZSL#

This is one of the finest books on needlepoint ever printed. The diagrams are so clear that even the rawest needlepoint novice can follow them, yet the plethora of stitches opens a whole new realm of possibilities even for the veteran stitcher. The photographs that are included in the book are fascinating examples of what needlework can be once an embroiderer decides to move on from kits and basket weave.
