I bought this belt’s because mine went out replaced it with a gates belt that wasn’t cogged that was my only choice in the meantime that worked perfect but I wanted cogged like the original once’s seen these and was this a waste of time. Just go with the gates even tho they are not cogged wayyy better quality this started to wear out instantly.

My 1996 MTD snow thrower hasn't been used for many years, since I burned out the electric starter, and we stopped having real winters a decade or two ago. MTD wanted over $300 for a new starter motor, but last week I found one for $60 right here on Amazon. This has made the restoration project attainable, along with a lot of research on schematics and part numbers. MTD has produced a vast array of various snow machines over the years, and although the basic design was the same, most individual parts are not interchangeable. My particular model, for instance, uses 2 of these auger drive belts, while some only require one. This supplier provides the two belts I needed, while some others sell single packs, with little difference in price. Do your homework on your particular model number, and the MTD website, cross referenced with the Amazon listings will get you exactly what you need.
