Excellent quality posts that you can use to make additional shelving units. Just add a set of decent wheels. They would be even better if they were 74" tall instead of 82 as we have had to cut them to allow to roll through normal doors. The other 74" posts that we have purchased have been very poor as compared to these, even though we have to cut them down..

These polls are very strong. The fit of the connection is very secure and installing them was quick and easy. I had some extra shelves laying around and now I have another great garage storage rack.

Don't use these split poles if you want racks on wheels. The threads do not hold up over time and the pole will want to bend as the cart is being shoved around.However, it's useful if you want a couple of shorter shelves instead of one super tall one. They will probably be just fine if the shelves are not mobile.

These are standard 1" poles in 2 pieces, no other parts needed to screw them together. The tops have a cap, the bottoms have adjustable feet. I am using them for shelving that holds lots of tools, etc. Very sturdy. These posts integrated quite well with the standard (heavy duty) shelving units, and whose clips fit on the posts without any problems.Bought them for 2 sets of shelving units to sit on and span a desk/worktable (like a hutch), so I needed shorter and taller posts so I could go up another foot towards the ceiling. I could have gotten a taller shelving unit but once you get beyond 74" the costs really start to rise. Ended up getting a 6-shelf 74" tall unit, a 4-shelf 54" tall unit and these posts. Used the 82" posts on each side of the worktable, 54" posts on the worktable, and 3-shelves for each. I also bought hanger rails to keep the posts from sliding apart (for instance, the bottom of the 82" posts on the sides of the worktable since there was no shelving to hold the posts in place, like a crossbeam). That left me with 4-shelves which I used with the original 74" posts. No waste, and cheaper.BTW, for those new to this kind of shelving, the clips don't have to meet completely. The clips have a slight taper, so just be sure the thin line of plastic on the inside of each clip is closer to the top so the pair can slide down together into the groove on the post, and then compression from the shelf holds them in place amazingly well. I also had very few problems keeping the clips in place while lowering the shelves onto them, so long as I was careful.
