This item is shown and listed as including a ring light. As such, it was at an attractive price point, so I ordered it. No ring light is included. There was no place in the international packaging for a ring light. The price point was actually significantly less attractive as I had to spend another $50.00 for the ring light. The scope is pretty good, so I decided not to return it and take the $50.00 hit the additional cost of the separate ring light. The listing, however, is misleading and I would not have bought the scope if I had known the price did not include the ring light as advertised.

Use it as a solder workstation at work and it actually images really well. Would buy any time again - especially for that price !!!

ONE-YEAR UPDATE: I am still enjoying this microscope. I use it regularly and definitely recommend it.Here is a list of things the product-page photos don't necessarily show you:1) this is an impressive, large microscope with enough height adjustment to look at larger specimens. (See the photo of it next to a more typical dissecting microscope.)2) it has very large, widefield eyepieces and they come with optional, rubber eyecups.3) each eyepiece has its own diopter adjustment feature.4) the LED light has a rotating dimming switch.5) the light's power adapter works with US-household outlets and other regions (AC 100-240v).6) the base has a very nice AmScope logo on the front edge. The one on my unit was pad-printed during its manufacture; it is not a clear sticker/afterthought.7) the microscope is hefty and well-built.8) the circular stage plate/insert is reversible (white on one side, black on the other).9) the optics are clear and the scope is enjoyable to use.UPDATE: Below I talked about the brightness/angle of the light and potential reflections. Since then, I've found that it's not much of an issue, except with shiny coins. So, take that into account.The only thing I am having to get used to is the coolness (color spectrum) of the LED light and the fact that shinier objects sometimes reflect the downward-firing light harshly. But I found an easy and inexpensive solution: a battery-operated book light with multiple brightness settings and a gooseneck. I simply clipped the book light to the microscope's frame, and I use it whenever I desire a warmer light or when an off-axis light helps prevent direct reflections. The book light angle can be endlessly adjusted, so I can also emphasize textures when I wish to. (See the image of the quilted tissue.) It's amazing how well the book light works. And, so far, it hasn't gotten in my way.I am very pleased with this microscope and I highly recommend it. Five stars.

I already have a more expensive version of this scope that sits on a longer-reaching mount. But, unfortunately, it is cumbersome and not at all portable.For this price, I was concerned that it would not work as well as my other Amscope. I was wrong; it's precisely the same in optical quality. Sure, this is not a trinocular scope, but for a portable version, I don't need the ability to drop a camera into the third slot.The WF10X/20 eyepieces give you a wide field of view for the price. I had the pleasure of using the best binocular scopes a local institution had, which are half or less as bright or clear as this modern Amscope.The LED light is exceptional. The more expensive scope allows you to turn four 25% zones on and off, but I needed something else here. You get an analog dial for brightness, a helpful feature.This scope has an upgraded light attachment feature, which I hate on my more expensive scope (it will not stay attached easily).In all, I'm delighted with this at this price point. However, beware of all the scopes in this family because many companies will take similar scope models and resell them using different names with no difference but the price and label. Nevertheless, this model is an excellent way to get into a good-quality binocular inspection microscope.

This scope is beyond expectations for the price -- well built with crystal clear images.Zoom feature is a must and works well. Be aware the manual is the downside: it is for several models and does not include this one; poor assembly instructions. Initially, could not get eyepieces to seat properly in the tubes on the head. Was about to call tech support when I noticed the tiniest set screws imaginable in thetubes were the problem. YOU WILL NEED A VERY SMALL PHILLIPS JEWELER'S SCREWDRIVER to retract then re-tighten the set screws so the eyepieces seat solidly in the tubes. Other than that, am very impressed with this scope. The LED ring light is excellent. Perfect for hobbies, etc -- bought it to examine ancient Native American relics for authenticity and it's ideal for this or similar interests.

I did not expect such quality for that price. The optics are superb. I am a hobbyist and have found it great fun to look at the detail of my tied fishing flies, bugs, rocks, fingernails, all kinds of things that I find so much fun looking at up-close. If I had known how fun it was, I would have done it sooner. I did find that a ring-light was not the lighting that i wanted to look at coins or other things that need oblique lighting, so I called AmScope and they recommended the multiple lighting setup (Variable-intensity LED Illuminator Set with Stage-plate, Ring Light, and two Gooseneck Lamps). I bought it and really like it ($179; a little expensive but works great) and I returned the ring-light to them for credit. Very good service (American) from the seller.
