Unit to be used just like a pipe cutter, get a feel for it and tighten gradually as you rotate.Able to make a clean cut free of shavings on a 4 inch diameter industrial oil filter in 20 seconds with ease.Well built and works very well with the correct technique.

This is a cheap but well made oil filter cutter. I modified mine to support oil filters with a threaded neck on them [like the ones used in the aircraft engines] by simply drilling a 1" hole in the center.

I only wished my kitchen can opener worked this well. Seldom am I surprised by a low cost purchase. This one had good material, NC machining and hand assembed.

This tool does the job well. Feels solid in hand and is not flimsy. It came with an extra cutting wheel in case the one included gets dulled. You can swap it out and source another spare so you won't be without a tool. Nice touch!I was able to make a clean cut in the oil filter to inspect the filter media for debris.

I have only used this one time, but it worked perfectly, a clean cut around the base. You have to feed the blade in gradually while turning, as you would a tubing cutter. Some reviewers apparently tried to use it like a can opener.
