People have been saying that hamster balls are bad for hamsters but I feel like this is the only way they can roam around freely safely. This ball is thick plastic and it is huge. The size is perfect for syrian hamsters even though it says 7", the hamster is not curved backwards in this ball. The way you open the lid is you twist and pull out and it is open and the same as closing it, you place the lid where the cut out is and twist to close and you have to switch the orange to lock to stay in place. Our hamster seems very comfortable with it. It is easy to see poos in this and easy to clean. The orange color on top of the lid doubles as its handle and easier to carry the ball instead of grabbing the entire thing.

Needed an escape proof ball so the kitten and the hamster can have supervised fun together and boy oh boy do they both love this thing !

Finally, my children feel secure in letting their little critters play! We have had a variety of exercise balls for the small animals we have had over the years, and this is by far the nicest one. The plastic is very clear. My kids like the way the air holes are designed, as there is no chance of a little paw getting stuck while running. We all like the locking door. We have had escapes in other exercise balls in the past (luckily, we have never permanently lost a pet), and I do not foresee having that issue with this exercise ball. I feel it is more expensive than what we have paid previously, but I do think the price is worth if for the security and comfort of our pets.

This is advertised to be used with a small animal like a dwarf hamster. We found out very quickly that these aren’t safe and are not recommended by our vet due to the risk of injury. Please do not buy.

While the ball is well-constructed and offers good ventilation, it’s simply too small for a guinea pig. My guinea pig looked cramped inside, and the ball didn’t roll as easily due to his body shape and weight.This ball seems better suited for dwarf hamsters or other small rodents, but for guinea pigs, I wouldn’t recommend it. Guinea pigs generally aren’t comfortable in exercise balls, and they prefer open, safe spaces for roaming. Good quality and very sturdy! Our crazy Persian hamster was very happily running around in this in no time. It was a touch too small for him, but not too bad. I like that the lid has a locking slider to ensure peace of mind. It doesn't feel super durable in terms of how thick the plastic is, but it's not as flimsy as some we have tried. Overall, this is an affordable option for medium or small hamsters.

We ordered this for our guinea pigs, but then read that their little backs can't handle running wheels or balls, because they are much larger than gerbils or hamsters. Even though they can do it, it's too risky for their bodies. So, we are probably going to end up using this with our hermit crabs instead. When they come up from molting, we will give it a try, and take some pictures or videos.
