The 6697 Wheel Knuckle Vacuum Oil Seal Installer Tool is a must for properly seating Oil seals in heavy duty Ford Pickups. This tool is a beast and very heavy. Packaging wasn't very good and it was nearly out of the Amazon Shipping box when received. The tool is machined and designed to withstand abuse. After 4 uses, the metal has deformed some (on the small diameter end) where it's been struck by the maul. However, I don't expect that to be an issue long term. I recommend a 10lb hammer or greater or long handled sledge when using this tool...which will result in less strikes and a faster install time. Worth the money, especially if you can't rent or borrow one.

Bought this because of how big of a pain it is to seat inner seals. Finally got to use the tool last week and itβs amazing, saves so much time and correctly seats the seal!

This dual purpose seal driver fits over the stubby axle to install the inner seal portion, and fits inside the knuckle to set the outer portion of the seal. This tool is a much cheaper knock -off that will last if you treat it right. What I mean is that the impact end of the tool is rather thin, so if you want to prevent it from getting disfigured from a steel hammer, use a dead-blow hammer.I used a 3# dead-blow and it did the job without disfiguring the tool, BUT --- I would highly recommend a 5# dead-blow hammer! It took all I had using the 3# hammer!I'm 68 and did everything by myself, but a 2nd pair of hands would make the job easier.

The ESOF system on my 2006 F-250 was in need of new vacuum seals and o-rings after confirming leaks at both wheel hubs. I decided to give this a try as the required specialty tool for this job and it worked great. It is SERIOUSLY heavy so I'm surprised the shipping cost alone doesn't exceed the list price. I beat the snot out of it with a mini sledge after a standard hammer wasn't doing the job, and although the very end of it did get dented in a bit, it withstood the abuse from both front hubs and after the repair the vacuum system worked great, so this was well designed for the job. It will definitely come in handy if there is ever a second need for it down the road. I'd certainly but again if needed.
