I was impressed with the grain on this handle. Of course I will remove the shellac and go with oil, but the grain and the quality is very nice indeed. It came with a metal wedge shim, which is fine for a smaller handle like this, so that saves additional purchases. I will probably buy future handles from the same source, because everything else I find is lesser than this.

Received the handle and despite the dimensions in the listing. I still needed to adjust it. Did so and it works fine. Unfortunately, they sent a second handle, unordered but at no charge and not my fault, and when I tried to return it they wanted me to pay the shipping, almost the cost of the handle ($14). I protested it was their mistake and their problem and waited weeks without hearing so have now given it to a thrift store. Good product, but small issues need to be addressed so they do not become big issues.

High quality dense handle. Straight and well shaped which allowed my ball pein head to slide on and seat perfectly. Only complaint is that the main reason I bought this handle over others was because it said it had a wax finish, but it has a normal lacquer finish like any other handle. I was hoping with this handle I would be able to skip the process of stripping the factory lacquer finish in order to coat it in BLO but I was wrong. Not a huge deal just slightly bothered by the misleading description.

review of the 16 inch ball pein handles. thinking that these are probably manufacturer's 2nds that are mass dumped at Amazon. the price is seriously cheap so you get a fair return on value. Of the 3 I bought, 2 had the grain in the wrong orientation and the 3rd had a 15 degree bend in the neck of the handle. Guess that works if you are right handed. finish is fine and no defects in the hickory itself. It will work for a ball pein, but I'd be much more selective if replacing a maul or sledge handle.
