About 3D Optical Tracking Markers for Industrial 3D Scanning

Right now,Optical 3D scanner is a device that uses optical imaging to obtain 3D information of the measured objects. Widely used in industrial product inspection, reverse setting, simulation, positioning and other fields. In order to obtain the three-dimensional information of various parts of the measured objects, the optical three-dimensional scanner usually needs to paste HogarDeco accurate tracking dots on the surface of the measured object or around the object. An array of 3D tracking markers with known geometric relationships can be used to calibrate the system parameters of the scanning device. By identifying a certain number of diffuse reflection markers in the scanning environment, the three-dimensional scanner can obtain accurate three-dimensional data of the object. Therefore, 3D optical tracking markers is an indispensable auxiliary positioning tool and calibration tool in the fields of optical surveying and mapping, machine vision and so on.

3d scanning point markers

How to use these 3D tracking markers for 3D Scanner?

Two methods of sticking marking points on 3D scanner :

1. Paste on the surface of the object: The object can move freely, but the disadvantage is that the part of the object covered by the mark cannot be collected.

2. Stick around the object: it will not affect the collected data, but the distance between the measured object and the surrounding marked points cannot be changed during the scanning process

Why we need 3D Optical Tracking Markers for Industrial 3D Scanner ?

3D scanner markers is a reference point in the form of a white circle inscribed in a black one. The markers are glued to the surface of the object being scanned, are read by the texture camera of the scanner and allow tracking of objects that do not have enough geometric data;General to say 3D Scanning markers allow you to capture high-detailed scans effortlessly and help identify objects from their background.

How to select the point markers when 3D scanning

There are many reference point markers in different sizes and with different adhesiveness.but medium reference point marker 6mm in and 10mm out are the most commonly used and are suitable for parts without special needs.

How to pick out which size is best fit your for 3D scanning ?

The size of the reference point markers depends on which 3D scanner and measuring volume is used for measuring your objects,Basically to say: the larger the item, the bigger the points have to be applied.

Compatible with ARTEC 3 d scanner, Creaform, Creality, Revopint, Shining 3 d Einstar Handheld 3 d scanner, Shining 3 d, 3 dmakerpro etc.

  • Inner diameter: 6.0 mm
  • Outer diameter: 10.0 mm
  • Round, on adhesive foil as tear-off pad
  • 50 single point markers each sheet, total 20 sheet x 50pcs= 1000pcs

How to paste 3D Optical Tracking Markers(3d target) for Industrial 3D Scanner, 3D Scanning Markers?

Scanner Positioning Targets Stickers

1. In order to ensure the integrity of the spliced data, there should be no less than 3 mark points at the splicing transition;

6mm Reflective 3D Scanning Reference Dots

2. When labeling points, they should show a V-shaped distribution;

3d scanning reflective targets

3. Try not to align more than two marking points on a straight line, otherwise incorrect splicing will occur;

4. The marking point should be affixed to the surface of the object as much as possible, and the marking point cannot be pressed against the edge of another marking point, or the marking point is folded, which will cause incomplete marking points;

round targets stickers

5. Select the appropriate mark point size according to the size and characteristics of the object. If the selection is improper, the mark point will not be recognized, resulting in the phenomenon of inability to join together;

6. When pasting the marking points on the surface of the measured object, pay attention to avoiding the features of the object, and paste it on the place where the measured object has no features, such as large planes, large curved surfaces, etc

7. In general, the number of marked points has no effect on the accuracy and will not increase the recognition rate of the point cloud. Therefore, the pasted marking points should not be too many, just satisfy the scanning;

I cut a circle out of MDF, painted it black, stuck these markers on, and set it on a lazy Susan. Works great and no loss in tracking with my Einstar.

I've got a Creality Lizard scanner and I needed a solution to be able to do my rapid prototyping scans - these markers help the stitching software align the point clouds to one another and make my life a little bit easier when having to do manual alignments. They are slightly reflective so they show up bright on the scanner, and they are a known size which helps with scaling as well. Overall I'd highly recommend these if you're in a niche product space like I am.

I got these tracking markers for my Creality Ferret Pro. So far they seem to work just as good though the software does say not to use reflective stickers. None the less the tracking is the same as the original sheet so it all is working on the difficult surfaces.Each sheet is covered with 50 dots (5x10) and comes off easily. Each dot does have a reflective marker on it so make sure they are compatible with the scanner of choice. The adhesive is not terribly sticky though you don't really want it to be anyway. There are some occasions where it was difficult to attach to a surface but going slow will pay off when placing especially if planning on re-using.

The reflective particles on this are larger than I found on other reflectors. The also seem to be a bit more anisotropic, leading to slightly reduced effectiveness when illuminated using a head-on source. Still these are almost as good as the ones that came with my 3D scanner, but considering that there are better ones out there for a similar price I feel like I need to dock a couple of points.

I have a couple of handheld Revopoint 3d scanners and needed additional tracking dots. I got the HogarDeco 350 pcs Reference Point Markers to mainly use with my Revopoint Range Handheld 3D Scanner which is used for scanning larger items and objects. I also use them with my Revopoint Mini 3D Scanner which is used for high precision scanning of smaller objects.The larger the object, the more dots you will want to use as they help with a more detailed scan. The dots give the scanner additional, known reference points. It can take some time to put all of the dots on the object but the results make it worthwhile.If you plan on scanning a lot of small and large objects, I suggest stocking up on the HogarDeco 350 pcs Reference Point Markers, I did.
