Lead Test Kit with Testing Swabs
Rapid Test Results

Are you curious about whether objects with paint on the surface contain lead?

Over 38 million homes were built with lead-based paint prior to the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission ban on lead use for residential purposes in 1977. Lead is most often transmitted via dust particles, which can be invisible to the human eye. Lead can affect children's brain and nervous system development, causing reduced IQ, learning disabilities, and behavioral issues. Projects that disturb painted surfaces can create dust and endanger your family unless the proper safety precautions are taken.

MULTI-SURFACE USE----- Test for lead on painted surfaces such as drywall, plaster, wood, metal, steel structures, vinyl, and other plastics.

I tested it out on several different household items and found that while my nice china teapot did not contain lead (which was my reason for buying it), my metal fruit basket did according to the swabs! Super easy to use and shows immediate results!

I bought 3 sets of new dishes from Burlington and Home Goods as I'm trying to eliminate (microplastics) and melamine completely and wanted glass, stoneware, etc dishes. 2 SETS of of my newly purchased (today) dishes tested positive for lead. I tested twice to be sure. One set of glass ceramic dishes made in Turkey and the other set was made in China. I absolutely loved these beautiful new dishes but I'm returning them and advising these retail stores that these dishes contain lead.I'm SO GLAD that I purchased this lead test kit. This is a great way to protect your family from lead poisoning. I just purchased my next set of dishes on Amazon - fingers crossed that they will not test positive.

I tested few locations, at the sink it turned pink. Which indicated lead. However, there should not be lead because we don’t have lead water mains in our town. I suspected the soap is turning this thing pink. So I tested on soap it turned pink, and tested on baking soda it also turned pink. Make sure when you testing the object the surface does not have ph value larger than 7

These test swabs work great. I got them to test the Stanley Cup lead issue that has been going on online. Pulled out a couple of lead sinkers from the fishing box to make sure they work and they turned pink right away. So then I proceeded to test the 40oz Stanley Tumblers that we have in the house. All of the were negative. Not one bit of color change, not even a little detected. I think the people online are buying the knockoff Stanley's. Anyway, I also tested Dutch Bro's cup and it was negative, same with a Sodalicious cup it was negative.

It detects lead in milk, baking soda, my saliva, my birds' cuttlebone...Completely unreliable, the fact that these are labeled as lead tests is false, and the narketing strategy in tandem with the price is downright predatory.People buy these out of fear and concern. Can you imagine how panicked I was when I saw the swab turn beet red on my birds' new cuttlebone, and later, my own saliva??? These should be sold as a calcium and/or metal detection kit for $1. They are marked up because they know they can get you to pay me than a buck if you're afraid and desperate, but they're not even worth $1 because it is genuinely misleading.Performance: Terrible.Readability: Color washes out easily, terrible.Color: Pretty vibrant. What good is that when they're unreliable, though?Ease of use: Easy to use, just inaccurate.Speed: Usually pretty fast to react, but still inaccurateAccuracy: Little-to-none. False positives are scary when you put any faith in these tests. Just don't buy if you need lead tests, simply put.

OK So first things first you just need to be comfortable with at home test kits and the weird ways colors are used... like the scale here is basically a pale pink (negative) to scarlet red (Positive) yet the swab, for me, starts as yellow/orange and stays as yellow/orange. BUT THAT'S STANDARD for home test kits like this (I'm comparing it against all test kits I've ever used for substances, not just lead, they just all seem to have a little wonky color schemes).Anyway I bought these because my wife inherited some really old baby toys that meant a lot to her, and since the paint was very bright on them I suspected they might have lead. I tested all the toys and they were all mustard-negative.I then wanted to test it against something I KNEW had lead to make sure the tests worked properly. I found a fishing line sinker because they are (almost?) always made of lead. Anyway WITHIN ONE SECOND the swab turned bright red like it was bleeding from the horror of being exposed to lead. This gave me EXCELLENT confidence that these swabs MUST work and that none of the toys I swabbed had lead paint.I would HIGHLY recommend. And I'd also point out that the manufacturer specs on the bottle indicate that the bottle is good for 2 years; so I'm assuming that means that once you pop the top you have 2 years of accuracy that they are vouching for. Though if I have these for 5 years and am curious if they still work I'll just swab another sinker :)Cost: AmazingQuantity: AmazingAccuracy: Amazing (enough for me!)A++!
