I purchased this hole saw to drill holes in my ceiling for canless recessed lights. It worked great and captured most of the Sheetrock dust. I previously bought an adjustable hole saw for larger holes, but this one is much more convenient and easier to use for smaller holes.

This is a heavy duty hole cutter, very thick metal. Comes with 2 bits and the hex wrench to add to my oversized hex wrench collection. My only issue is I wish one of the bits was offered as shorter. I was drilling into the ceiling near wire runs, and the bit extends up about 1 to 1.5 inches. It really only needs to be about .5 - 3/4 inches, as at that point you engage the teeth. Also note that it has a nice system of locking with two metal pins that screw in, however, it locks a bit before the actual thread lock, so when its started, it kind of jolts. I got used to it. Also, this kept 100% of the drywall dust in the bowl, which has a nice bearing on it. Really, this is just well made and works. If you have to cut these holes, no brainer. Also, the extra 1/4 inch - as in 6+1/4 - made it much easier to get the clips in on the recessed lights I installed.

I bought this because I was installing some 1/2" wafer style recessed lights that called for a 6 1/8" hole and my original recessed light hole saw measured 6 3/8" and I didn't want to over size the hole by 1/4". These indeed made the perfect sized hole for a 6 1/8" wafer light. I installed 10 lights and used the dust collector, another nice feature - as with my existing saw I would use a paper plate to catch most of the dust but this one caught 99% or more of the dust. I wouldn't use this on more than drywall though, but worked perfect for that.

I needed to install some overhead lighting, and this hole saw worked perfectly. I bought this after using a similar product that didn't work. This one, however is beautifully made, sturdy and makes the job simple. The dust catcher, in particular, is flexible, compressible, and sturdy. It has ball bearings in the bushing that rides on the the drill bit. The dust catcher worked so well that I didn't need a drop cloth while cutting the holes. I wholeheartedly endorse this tool. That said, in use it is best to use a hefty corded drill to do this job, since the saw will bog down due to its size.

Considering its durability and performance, this hole saw offers great value for the price. It made cutting holes for our recessed lights quick, easy, and precise, it handled multiple lighting projects without wearing down. Highly recommended for if you’re a DIYer !

Used for drilling holes in drywall. Keep the drill speed low and the hole saw will drill perfect , clean holes. The dust is all caught in the “accordion” bowl… brilliant! If you’ve never used a hole saw before, for your safety, it’s imperative that you keep the saw flat on the surface.
