You can't beat the price and the performance is great but the reason people are saying they aren't loud enough is because it doesn't matter what phone you have, the headphone amp in you phone is not powerful enough to drive these speakers! When I plug my phone up to it I can't hear it through the pillow at all so what I used to boost it was a Bluetooth transmitter! I already had 2 Bluetooth transmitter/receivers and i have the the transmitter hooked to the TV and the receiver hooked up on my nightstand with 2 of these speakers in my pillow so i can listen to the TV without disturbing my soul mate. I found that it i didn't turn the TV transmitter on but turned just the night stand receiver on and paired it with my phone if he'd plenty of power to make the speakers play through a feather pillow! The Bluetooth trans/receiver is just a boss that is the size of thumb drive and it only has a USB port for power, 1/8" stereo headphone jack and a switch that says Tx/Rx that lets you switch it to a trasmitter or receiver! If you get a pair of these, you won't have any cords across your bedroom or living room when you want to listen to your music or TV programs in the headphones!I have 2 of the speakers in my pillow and out of the headphone jack i have a stereo to mono adapter then a headphones splitter cord and that way you can hear the same thing no matter where you're head is at!I got the pair for like $35 dollars but it you only need one i think they're $15 and you will have enough power to drive the speakers!

I have bought these a few times over more than a few years. They do wear out and the cord breaks over time because I'm sleeping on them. That's expected, hence multiple purchases. They are perfect in they are loud enough for me to hear but silent enough not to bother my husband sleeping next to me. I don't have to have ear buds in all night making me uncomfortable. My only challenge with these is not a manufacturer problem or a seller problem. It's a Amazon distribution problem. These sell as a 5 piece speaker set. Twice I've received a single speaker because someone split the packaging. I've had to return them & try again. That is on Amazon, not the seller. But it's frustrating.

I purchased this to bring a speaker closer to my ear in my car when mind Kindle can't be tied into the main speaker system. It isn't even as loud as the Kindle speaker! Any kind of noise will drown it out. So unless you are in a 'dead quiet' room it won't work at least for what I want. If you put under a pillow you will hear nothing, under the pillowcase it will be uncomfortable on your ear/head, and beside the pillow if another is in the bed they will hear a 'fly in a bottle' faint sound. Returned it within minutes.

Made of thin plastic and cord is not very heavy and looks like it could be pulled out or broken very easy.

Low volume and mid-range only, no highs or lows. Cheap, yes.

Peace and quiet when we go to bed. I fall asleep quickly without TV but my wife enjoys falling asleep to TV. I used to have to ask her to turn the volume down. Now, she can hear the TV and I can't. A godsend for sure.

Read bad reviews on the plug and speaker wires so the first thing I did was to tape the wire to the back of the speaker and to the plug to act as a strain relief for the wire. So far holding up well and I like the sound quality coming from such a small speaker. Shipped on time and is working well so far.

I bought some of these to share with the whole family.Having read the comments, I took mine apart and tied a knot in the line so that the pegs catch it instead of puling against the speaker. (There was already a knot in there, but I wanted a second one to allow for more slack. It has no bass. I tried playing some music with a shredding bass solo, it sounded like a quiet guitar. It's not loud, even at max volume it can barely be heard in a quiet room.So I don't recommend it for much more than light music or for audiobooks.Having said that, it matched my expectations exactly. I just want to fall asleep to some podcasts and audio-books without headphones digging into my ear or disturbing anyone.
