This is a nifty package that is well put together. The holder and the flashlight are nice, and you can use a LiIon battery in the flashlight instead of 3 AAAs.I also discovered another use for this: helping with cable runs. It's great for "grabbing" some speaker or network cable you're trying to run through the attic or elsewhere.

These tongs have worked ok for a few months, but they just fell apart while I am working a snake wrangling job! Terrible timing 😔 There are two tiny screws holding the tongs in place, and when those screws inevitably come loose and fall out, your tongs no longer work. I'm in the middle of nowhere on a film set, surrounded by copperheads, and I now have no snake tongs. So very unhappy with this product right now. Oh, and also, the included flashlight is very cheap. It will turn off or switch to flashing just from the tongs tapping against the ground.

This is the replacement to the 1st one I ordered and returned as it too was missing parts and damaged. This one is completely missing the flashlight and tape ! The interior box was open and recluses just as the 1st one meaning these are NOT new items but damaged items intentionally being resold!

Sorry, I do not have any snakes to practice on. So there is no video. This is a nice piece of equipment. I have never been afraid of snakes but just about everybody else in my family is terrified of them. A couple of weeks ago at our lake house, I was leaving the dock and my wife was waiting for me at the golf cart. She looked scared and immediately pointed to "something over there" that looked like a snake. Sure enough, about twenty feet from her sat a very large black snake. He was six or seven feet long. I walked over to look at him, and of course, he looked right back at me. Funny thing is, he didn't go anywhere. So I picked up a long stick and started trying to move him. I would pick up part of him and he would just slither off the stick and would not move any further. He didn't even make any threatening motion toward me at all. My wife wanted me to kill him. I said, no, he's harmless. But he wouldn't move. Finally I got him to slither on down to the rip-rap at the shoreline where he found himself a nice hole between the rocks. If I had this thing, I could have picked him up and saved myself some time.Hey, you also get a flashlight with this thing. And you get a device to attach the flashlight to the snake picker upper. And, the flashlight is nice. It takes three AAA batteries, and has multiple settings. It even has a strobe setting. So if you want to chase a snake in the dark, imagine the surprise on that suckers' face when he sees you chasing him with a strobe light. But here's another thought. Imagine if you drop something behind your washing machine or dryer. And your laundry room is tight. How can you possibly reach whatever is it that you dropped without moving the washer or dryer away from the wall and half killing yourself trying to reach behind it to get the item you dropped? I bet that you have already figured out where I am going with this. Voila! You can use the snake picker upper thing-a-ma-jig to get it, and you can do it without even moving the washer or the dryer. And, if its dark back there, you can attach the flashlight and then......just wow.

I love the stick only dislike is when you close the clamp down on a snake you need to be careful you don't hurt the snake as it's a really tight clamp

I'm a landlord in the deep south and I do a lot of my own work. We have snakes and I've always wanted one of these. With the weather we've had, they are becoming a problem in Mississippi. And we got the BAD ones! My work requires me to crawl under homes and I've never been able to do anything but leave the area till I THINK it's safe to go back in. That's not good.I consider this insurance. If I run into one again, I'll have a way to deal with it and remove it before any harm can be done. That makes me breath easier. This seems to work very well and feel light enough that you could carry a snake around on the end of it and not strain yourself. It's got a flashlight and a holder that can be used for night time adventures into the woods or for seeing under houses.About the only thing that I wish were a bit better is the lock. It only has one position to lock it into and that position brings the clamps at the other end all the way together. As I haven't used it in a real life event (just picking up that very dangerous broom stick that got too close for comfort) I don't know if you can get it locked with a snake in it. I think you would just have to hold pressure with your grip until you have the snake removed and contained. I guess I'll find out. Or better yet, maybe I'll never find out.It also came with a roll of sports tape. I don't know if it's for grip on the handle (not a bad idea) or along the shaft so you can sneak up on the snake without the shiny part.I'm very glad I have this now. If you live in the country or do work in crawl spaces, you need one of these.
