I am installing a back-up generator hook up for the home using a gas powered portable generator that feeds directly into my main house power panel. Of course, all the necessary interlock hardware is installed at the panel to assure 100% separation from the generator feed and the power company feed. My generator is only 5000 watts and creates maximum 20 amps at 220V. I am up grading to a 30 amp feed service, just in case I decide to upgrade the generator to 30 amps at a later time. I have a nice 30 amp cord to connect the generator with an inlet box at the exterior of the home. I needed a nice inlet box that will accommodate that same cord. The Kikirv 30 Amp Generator Inlet Box was selected as that point of connection. The box construction is heavy gauge metal, formed cleanly and heavily coated for weather protection. The design should shed rain, even driven rain, without fear of entry into the interior. The plug connection is a nice, heavy duty plastic based assembly, the cover snaps firmly closed when not in use. The plug connection to the cord is firm, solid, and twists firmly to lock the connection into place. I would describe the entire construction of this box as "beefy". I am using 8 gauge stranded wire, mostly because I have it in my stock. The pinch connections inside the plug receptacle are stout. The 8 gauge wire will be about the heaviest wire that the connector lug holes will accept, so use of a 6 gauge wire might not work if you are so inclined (let alone the difficulty of wrestling with 6 gauge inside the confines of the box). The rubber grommet plugs in the knocked out holes are flexible and pretty easy to remove and replace with just your fingers. The only issue I might have with the rubber grommet knock out plugs is that when they are in place, they are a tiny bit loose and sloppy in fit, as opposed to being snug and 100% water tight. This fit is not a deal breaker, and I don't foresee an issue with the integrity of the water resistance of the box....just sayin'. The color is a generic gray that will match most other generic exterior gray electrical boxes and panels. Bottom line: a real nice box.

This L14-30 outlet is in a nice heavy enclosure with tight fitting parts all around. The cover fits snugly and made from thick plastic. The outlet is threaded for sealed cables. It's a nice box and even has ETL labels, so good for any inspected installation.

This30 Amp Generator Inlet Box, Waterproof and Rustproof, Pre-Drilled 4 Big Wiring Holes is very well- made and safe to use with a tightly sealed box and strong terminals. The heavy plastic terminal cover lid that folds up is tough and seals with a gasket when closed with access holes big enough for heavy grade wire. I also picked up another box like this from this same company for a separate generator connection terminal because of the totally excellent quality of the build materials and the design. Good quality inlet box! Great find!

This box is well made, this was exactly what I was looking for to connect my backup diesel generator to my house. I have a whole house generator but I wanted to setup a back feed for my portable generator to use as a backup when my whole house generator has issues. This box makes it super easy to connect my generator to my house with just one single cord. Very pleased with it.

Great way to wire a generator into your home to supply power should you be prone to losing city power. Note however it MUST be used with a suitable interlock in your breaker panel to ensure you don't try to supply power from both the generator AND the City at the same time, AND that you cannot end up with city power at this connector.

I got this to use with a Honda generator to keep my fish alive / appliances on during a power outage. I had no problem installing this. The enclosure is well built and weather proof. Overall, I would recommend this product to others.
