I got this to protect an insulated water pipe for my outdoor bunny hutch. The bunnies like to chew on everything... including pipe heater cable and insulation. So, wrap two layers of this over the part the bunnies can get to, and they won't chew it any more. They only chew things that are about as soft as wood or softer, so this should stop them. You can cut this with scissors, and it's stainless so it should hold out for a few years before needing replaced. Looks great too!

This is a fascinating material to me - soft and pliable, yet it’s made of sturdy stainless steel. In some ways, it’s like a steel wool, but with far greater structure and durability. I’m trying to use it in a variety of ways for my bonsai habit - from covering drainage holes to training roots and stems. So far, I love it. It’s easy to work with, and easy to cut (though I recommend cheap scissors so you don’t dull your bonsai pruners), and it does a great job holding in growth media.

I have a good size garden box in the backyard. I've layed this down at the very bottom to keep the rodents out, and it seems to be doign a good job for the most part. If they get used to the small holes, I will layer it with one more and off center the two.

I admit this mesh is not at all what I was expecting. I thought I was getting fairly rigid, thick wire mesh like you would put over an eave vent to prevent rodents from getting in. That is not at all what this is. The wire is extremely fine and the mesh almost feels like soft fabric. It's also extremely flexible, again like fabric. The mesh has a double layer (which if you open it up means it's really just a long tube, but it's folded flat), so if you needed a 10" single layer you could cut it along its length. I expect it's nice to lay down in a garden bed, but honestly I bet the rats I have around my house would make short work of eating through it. But maybe it's enough to dissuade gophers or squirrels from eating your plants.

Review of 5" X 30 ft 304 Stainless Steel Mesh, Wire Mesh for Plants, Hole Fill Fabric Gap Blocker, Double Layer Metal Mesh Roll, Flexible Stretchy for Garden House and DIY (A-5" X 30 ft)Quality:Good. The mesh is evenly woven. It's soft and has no undue unravelling. No debris or flaws.Impressions:This is a roll of stainless mesh tubing. The wires that make up the mesh are very thin and pliable. It can very easily be formed to any shape. The weave allows a length to be stretched to varying diameters. It was woven into a roll with a little extra wire but with a little care it unrolled with no damage. For something so delicate it's very strong. Given that it's stainless it won't rust and will last a long time.We have a section in the corner of our basement sill that's inaccessible from the outside and not very easy to reach from the inside and it's under the downspout. Over time there's been some moisture and that combined with a family of mice under the front brick steps we've had some nibbling that lets them find their way into the house. We'll use lengths of this to plug the gap. It's flexible and soft enough that with a screwdriver it will be easy to force into the hole and really pack it in. Then we'll staple some SS mesh over the wood on all sides to reinforce the barrier. Both are 304 so there's no galvanic issues and if there is any moisture at all we aren't concerned with rust. Given the location and difficulty in working in the area because of the floor joists this is the best we're able to do without any major work. We'll also use it combined with caulk over the gas line inlet and around the cable/telecom entry points. I'm sure we'll find plenty of other uses for it given how flexible it is and the resistance to corrosions. Very useful product.

I got this for blocking gaps that mice can get through. I think it's good for applications where you can attach it to something with stainless steel staples or glue. It's actually a crocheted tube made from a single strand of .14mm diameter stainless steel wire. In the past, I have used stainless steel wool to fill rodent holes. Each has its advantages. The stainless steel wool has sharp edges that are a better deterrent to chewing but it's hard to spread out evenly to block up large slots and gaps. This is more efficient for covering gaps if it can be attached to the surrounding material but, being made of smooth wire, it doesn't stay in smooth holes as well.

First off, this is a knitted sleeve like on a sweater or sock, soft and slightly stretchy. Since it is knitted from a single continuous wire, it is possible to unravel it by pulling the end wire, but this is not much of an issue. It looks like very light weight chain mail. It can be sewn down. You could used it to cover your shirt sleeves for that medieval look, or to hang from your helmet to protect your neck from sword cuts. It can be used to stuff rodent holes (they can't chew through it easily) like steel wool, but without rusting or shedding. You can cut it with scissors, but cutting is the one thing that will release a bunch of little curly stainless wires. I used it as backer to fill large gaps before applying auto body filler. It could also be used as a gap backer for joint compound or caulk.
