Still trying to figure out the directions

First off, the primary function of the device is good. I programmed local stations easily. If I had cable service, that would work fine, too, I'm sure. The sound quality is decent with the two speakers but is a little lacking in low frequencies. Using headphones or earbuds, the sound was just fine. The media playback is where it goes wrong:* The "AV Input" claim is false, though one could probably rig one to the coax antenna input. There's no included adapter for that, though, so again, that's just a false claim.* Support of various video formats is a real stretch. I am a media junkie and am quite familiar with codecs and their usage. This device claims to support x265, and it does somewhat well, including 10-bit encoding, but in general, it only supports 265 sometimes. It has problems with x264 as well, which really should not happen at this time, being an old codec.* When I was able to get the video to play (less than 50% of the time), I usually ran into incompatible audio. Most playback issues ended up being audio, which is ironic since those are simple codecs. In all, with about 10 different formats chosen to represent many variations on 264 and 265 from my library, NOT ONE worked for both audio AND video. I stopped testing there, as I'm not interested in encoding files specifically for this device that does not properly support two of the most popular formats in use today. The display resolution is 720p, which I expected, but it's not detailed anywhere that I found, including in the multi-model manual which has almost no useful info at all.Honestly, I'd return it, but by the time I realized the playback issues were so bad, it was too late for that. I guess it will be a slightly overpriced portable TV in my case.

There are a few hurdles to overcome once you get the device. First, is antenna TV channel scanning. If you have never done this on a local TV, then you might find this a challenge. First, you see that the instructions are a bit confusing as the one you see when you open the box is for when using the remote, which is different than when you are using the general TV navigation. On scanning, I first did a scan with the smaller wired antennae provided. This was good, but some of my normal channels were missing (sometimes they are not so good with my normal TV either). I decided to switch to the atennae I have for my normal TV and I got the rest of the stations. I was then able to put back on the wired antennae and get everything. I don't have cable, but I assume it would work nice with it as well.Overall, I love the interface, the menu systems are intuitive, it is great having radio and TV as well as the ability to read from SD card and USB. It is sort of a nice little piece of side gear that lets me either watch something directly or on the side.My only criticisms are that it does not have an HDMI output and the hardware manual provided does not match my model. Nevertheless, the item is as pictured and works nicely.
