This product works if you have 1920x1080 or less on both ends. Higher resolutions do "work" but I was unable to get a decent display image. Better than nothing, and inexpensive, it will allow a headless server to be accessed with various remote (VNC, RDP) software. Inexpensive too. If you are trying to seamlessly connect to modern Apple computers, you should consider the higher quality and more expensive 8k adapters with a good cable instead. That's what I did. I'll keep this in the drawer as an emergency item.

Does what it's supposed to do. Plug and play. Nice that it has the screws to firmly attach to the VGA port, as some others did not.

i use these for game streaming. out of the box the resolutions only support 60hz, but they can be modified with an edid editor to get higher frequencies. i did this so i could get 90fps on my steam deck while streaming.

Works like a charm. Plugs into an HDMI port and reports a slew of display resolutions that you can set in order to change display resolution while using remote desktop software.On my Mac, the dongle reported 30 display resolutions ranging from 4096x2160 (4k) to 800x600 (SVGA). Most common aspect ratios are covered (1.9:1, 16:9, 16:10, 4:3). There are no UltraWide aspect ratios or "tall" aspect ratios (like 3:2 on the HP Spectre x360 13.5).

Am using it with a 15 year old Mac mini running Debian. Machine boots (which it will not without dvi connected) and loads the xfce desktop that I access remotely

Nice and small. Allows you to restrict video transcodes to the onboard display adapter. Without a monitor detected, transcoding is usually disabled. This device allows you to take advantage of Quick Sync with your Intel UHD 630 or 750 IGP for a better end result with lower power usage. Your discrete display adapter is freed up for gaming or design. My UHD630 and i7-9700K with 32 gigs of RAM exceed the transcoding capacity of my Radeon RX580.Plug in and reboot. In Windows, go to Settings > Display. Set Multiple Displays to to "only show on 1/2". Now click Graphics. Find your transcoding applications either on the list or by adding a "classic" or "desktop" app and browsing to its .exe file. In the case of Plex, you will want both Plex Media Server.exe and Plex Transcoder.exe. Depending on your operating system, select the "power saving" designation or the specific display adapter. Fire up a transcode and watch the activity in Task Manager > Performance to confirm.
