Based on testing I did; the filter has excellent optical quality - no noticeable color shift of distortion edge-to-edge. Mechanical construction is solid.

The machining. The glass. How easy it is to thread on lenses. All of that points to the high quality of Breakthrough Photography products! Highly recommend product & company!

This is my 4th Breakthrough filter already! Very good quality, packaging and picture quality. Its on the expensive side for a UV filter, but you get what you paid for.

I could not be more happy with this camera filter! It has adequate knurling to enable removal and I have sensed no tendency to 'stick' in place. My photos look brighter and colorful than my older V_____R brand filters. These filters get great reviews in the trade magazines.Highly recommended.

I have 3 different Fugifilm lenses & have Breakthrough Technologies X4 filters on all my lenses but something went wrong (perhaps with the 67mm X4 UV in particular) because I experienced a 2nd broken UV filter discovered when I took the lens out of it's padded lens storage bag preparing to use the lens.The lens cap was on & yet I found the filter broken (both times ) & I had a difficult time removing the UV filter from the CPL filter (& lens).I contacted Breakthrough tech support & reported the 2nd failure.Customer support contacted me and after discussion & exchanging phone calls, sent me a replacement & I returned the 2nd. broken filter for a forensic analysis as neither I nor Breakthrough could explain why I had the breakage while in storage. Breakthrough's replacement policy is excellent & I offered to pay the exchange / replacement cost but it was waived by customer service - I couldn't ask for better service.

Not sure you can appreciate a good UV filter until you have used a bad one. I know some say these are not needed on a DSLR lens but I would rather clean dirt and dust off a filter than the front element of a lens when I'm in the middle of nowhere. I now have two X4 UV filters, a 95mm and the latest, a 72mm. The 72mm replaced a UV filter that came on a lens purchased used. I was getting lens flare very easily with this lens and I suspected the filter was the problem. Also noticed a slight reduction in contrast when compared to the same photo taken without the filter. Not a real problem but it was there. This X4 UV fixed all of that. Where I was getting lens flare with no problem before, even when I wasn't expecting it, with the X4 I can't seem to get it even when I try to. Contrast is as good and possibly slightly better than with no filter, but I don't have a big enough sample size to say for sure. The X4 is definitely better than the old filter. I have always used B&W filters and I have no complaints with them. I wouldn't want to try to determine which performs better, but I do like the knurled edge on the X4. Not as likely to get stuck. Only complaint, they are expensive!

I read all the reviews and looked at the YouTube videos and thought i would give it a try. So glad I did my homework and did not go for the other brands that are often recommended.The moment you get it out the box it screams quality by it's weight and feel. Even the packaging looks great. The X4 UV features an ultra-slim double-threaded 3.2mm frame that prevents any vignetting. It still works with all my lens caps and adding filters on top.The nano coating layer technology, called (nanotec) , stop dirt, water and other elements. It does genuinely stay so clean and even beads up in the rain.The grip around the filter makes it easy to grip and unthread. Will definitely buy more filters by this company. Very impressed.

I purchased two X2 67 mm UV lens in the past few months to protect my new and expensive Canon nano USM lenses, but since I just bought the Canon EF 100mm f/2.8L MACRO lens, I decided to get the X4 UV 67mm instead of the X2.All I can say is WOW! You definitely get what you pay for! The X2 filters are very nice, but this is a giant step up.Feels nice and strong, very sturdy. Has a little bit of weight, but thats to be expected from premium filters. You will not be disappointed and with a 25 year guarantee you cannot go wrong. I am very happy I spent the extra money for the X4.From now on, all of my filters will be from Breakthrough.UPDATE: Just purchased the 72mm X4 for my new Canon EF 70-200mm IS II USM lens. The best lenses need the best filter - the X4 is fantastic as always! After purchasing 2 X2 UV filters and 2 X4 UV filters I will keep coming back again and again!UPDATE #2: Just purchased the 77mm X4 for my new Canon RF 24-105mm F/4L IS USM lens - fits perfectly as always and does not interfere with the lens or picture quality what so ever (either photo or video) - I am sure there will be an update 3 in the future :)
