I bought this to replace the original controller that came with the lights that we purchased several years ago. After using less than a week, it stopped working.

Nice set up for a different kind of led set up. I have the led lights with the white and red and blue cords that need a converter and a power source. This particular set up did not work with my lights but were good quality, nice remote with a wide range of features, and a set up for a different converter.

The new IR connector works fine. The old one was 7 years old. So I guess I got my money’s worth from it. However, the original strip of lights is also 7 years old and it still works fine. Nonetheless, I’m happy the replacement worked to fix the lights not working at all. However, these type of lights have a male/female 4 pin cupeling that is needed to connect the power line. It’s like 1/4 inch wide and is basically 4 tiny pins and a tiny strip of plastic holding them together. THAT piece wasn’t included with this replacement package. I mean, seriously, those connectors must cost like a dime a dozen. And you couldn’t have added at least ONE new one to the package? I would have gladly paid a dime more for just one!Luckily the old one still worked and I was able to pry it out of the old IR unit for use.But seriously … drop a few of them in the replacement package will ya?Oh, and my other complaint was the new IR unit has a shorter power cord coming out of it. Which made it harder for me to connect the lights to the unit due to how everything was mounted on the wall. Why shorten the cord on the exact same unit? But I was able to remount things and was able to get the new unit working despite the short comings noted above. But that’s the only reason for 4 instead of 5 stars.

This thing is great, it has a variety of color options and even offers custom RGB editing, I used this to upgrade the led controller in my Computer after purchasing a RGB kit from another manufacturer, the reason? This RGB controller offers REAL RGB FADING not any of that Fade to black and then to another color stuff, it shifts directly from one color to the other and it looks amazing.Despite the fact some have reportedly received a product with a defect where the RGB associations are wrong, mine works perfectly fine, probably because its from a newer batch, anyways its been working for about 6 months I think, and it has absolutely no problems. So what does it come with? You get a simple white box and inside is the controller and the RGB controller, the way you power it is a 12v DC connector , since I am using this in my computer I had to resort to using the 4 pin molex to 12V DC connector, and it absolutely worked. However I overlooked one thing, this RGB controller offers only one connection instead of the two connections my old one had, so If your doing this make sure you pickup a " Y " splitter cable to maintain the existing connections. The only bad thing I could say about this product would have to be the fact the RGB controller sometimes has a slight jagged transition when using FADE 7, that problem seems to come from the onboard firmware that is not flashable, the other thing isn't so much a problem but can be an annoyance, the controller is IR, and unfortunately it uses some of the same instructions as other common TV remotes, meaning that it is possible that if somebody else is using a TV controller near, the IR receiver will pick this up and change color, but that also means you can change the volume and channels on some TVs with this remote.I like it and it works so I give it a solid 5 stars, product does exactly what its intended to do.

Alright, I have seen a lot of reviews about the device changing the way the controller unit functions (not the remote the controller itself). After several days of hunting for a solution, I found one buried in the deep-web.The controller is cheaply made but not OMG shatter in your hand cheap. The remote control is substandard but not much worse than the remotes you get with car head units. The internal welds on the control unit are well done but this is where the problem starts. The controller was designed by someone that knew the workers in the factory (or the machine putting these things together) would not properly spot the cables correctly. So the programmer that designed the units firmware to 'soft change' which pin does what. As you can see in the photo the pins on the board are labeled RGB but the wires are welded as BGR (another unit I have welded GRB). To correct for the improperly welded wires the unit can be 'reset' to cycle the control of each color.Turn the unit off but LEAVE IT PLUGGED IN to both the dc power unit and the strip. Repeatedly tap the bottom right FADE 7 button on the remote; it will cause the strip to flash once per tap. Each flash is the cycle of the RGB rearranging itself. Tap it two to three times then turn the strip on. Check to see if the RGB buttons on the remote are correct. If not, turn the unit off and tap-tap-tap again. Check it again... repeat repeat repeat... until they are correct.I have a VIZIO tv with a remote that the volume-up mimics the command of the fade button if the whole command isn't seen by the controllers IR eye. Other devices (Brite-View media player, Vizio TV, Sony BD Player, and Charter Cable Box) remotes cause interference too. Slightly annoying but the volume on the TV is the only one that changes the soft set of the RGB buttons. Go figure.I hope this helps if anyone has a unit that is scrambled or if you receive one that isn't working correctly.
