This 4 pack of jelly roll rug batting is a great timesaver. It was nice to have the awl, but the fold maker really isn't the right size for using a 2-1/2' strip of fabric - it is designed to make a 25mm (1" ) wide finished tape, which you usually feed double ( 50mm or 2" wide) into the tape maker. It just won't work for this. The batting is just a little bit thinner than regular quilt batting that you would get by the yard at a quilt or big box store ( see pics, #3 shows a cotton on the left, a 80/20 blend in the middle, and this polyester on the right (marked with an arrow) You can tell by feel it is a little bit thinner. Your needs may vary by your project. It sewed up quite nice without any grief on my home machine - Because the batting is just a bit thinner, and it's just "scant" of 2-1/4" wide, I just hand folded mine, and didn't bother to use some of the contraptions made for folding the fabric. Easy Peasy/ You don't need a particularly heavy duty sewing machine, and I sewed this with a regular sewing foot - I didn't need a walking foot. I used a 90 top stitch needle with poly thread and my machine didn't even flinch. (Juki dx7)This worked great, and would get more if I ever get my other projects finished !

These batting rolls are just right for what I want to do, so I'm giving them five stars. They might have issues (and a lower rating) for other uses. The batting is lightweight, good for a summer quilt or light duty jelly roll rug. The rug will last for years, but probably not be handed down to the next generation. I can tell from the "finger feel" that it contains some cotton, which will help wick away moisture. I didn't check the entire length of all the rolls, but the first 10 yards of one roll are uniform without waves or blops of more solid batting. It does stretch a bit, about the same amount as the cotton fabric I'm using, so to me that's a good match. If you're used to flat dense wool batting, this isn't it -- it's a bit thinner in thickness and much less, err, stolid. It has more give and flex than the wool batting I've been using, and that's what I wanted.I'm using it for binding on a quilt with wool batting because the binding will have double thickness and I don't want the quilt edges to be too heavy. I'm cutting 5 inch wide fabric strip, lay batting in the middle, fold the sides over the top so the batting is completely covered. Then fold in half lengthwise where the fabric edges are, so there's a fabric-batting-fabric sandwich on top and bottom of the quilt. (I'm a totally self taught and novice quilter, so I apologize if that makes experienced quilters wince.) I haven't whipstitched the binding on yet, but have pinned it in place and I like the result a lot. There's lots more batting on these rolls than I'll use for binding my quilt, so I'm planning to make a jelly roll rug. This batting is light enough that I'll be able to wash the rug without breaking my washing machine during the spin cycle. I'm also thinking of jelly roll quilted vests for spring/autumn wear; more warmth than just fabric but not heavy to wear, and easy to wash. There's a tube maker and awl included, and the seller's descriptions seem to imply that it's for making a tube of batting plus fabric for jelly roll rugs....nope. The slits where the fabric/batting would go aren't wide enough for them to fit in and move, at least for me for two hours of trying. It does make nice bias fabric tape, which will come in handy, and both items are sturdy and high quality and they work for medium or lightweight fabric. Not for heavy fabric like sturdy canvas, but I won't be making binding tubes of that anyway.I like these batting rolls a lot, and they're going to save me hours of time and frustration cutting my own wobblu-edged strips -- I'll definitely buy them again once I use these up. I've included a lot of caveats of what this batting doesn't do to help other customers avoid making assumptions based on other batting they've used, but these jelly roll batting strips are wonderful for anyone who understands what they are (and aren't). I highly recommend them.

So, I am anxious to try this as I saw the fixture at one of my local stores in their sewing section. I have always been a fan of the braided rugs, so am looking forward to getting a chance to make some of my own out of scraps or old rags. Having the pre-cut batting will likely spoil me, so I couldn't pass this up as I don't have a lot of extra time anyway. The batting is thinner than what I normally use for quilting (it is more like polyfill), but for the rugs it likely will need to be thinner. I don't know how far this will go, so I can't attest to the value, but it looks like it will be a nice time saver and the bonus fixture will let me try this without investing extra.

I didn't even know what a jelly roll rug was until I stumbled upon this listing. Now, I have purchased an additional $68 of supplies to try this new (to me) craft out.The size of the rolls are substantial, the stiletto seems to be of decent quality (although its safety cover is worthless), and the bias tape maker is nice, but from everything I have read and videos I have watched, this won't do much good for this particular project. The package doesn't really come with any instructions on making the rug, but there are some decent videos on YouTube.I look forward to finishing my jelly roll rug and will update this feedback when finished. The price is fair for what is offered. I wish they had an option for not receiving the additional tools. If I order again, I don't want another set of tools. But, I guess I can always donate them.

I really liked working with this batting, it is so easy to use when making rope with jellyroll strips for rugs or table runners like I do. Out of three rolls I used 4 jelly rolls.

I liked the price, but when I used it for my jelly roll rug it was just too thin
