So I did not use the included suction cup things, I have regular tanks with the black plastic edges. So I just snapped together what I needed to cover the tank, then cut it to size so it sits right in the groves. Works perfectly for me. I put the hoses and cords right through the holes or at the edge. The cat even walks on it with zero issues (10 gallon). I used the left over piece that I cut off for a 2.5 and have enough for my 20 still if I want to use it. That's technically 3 lids for like 16 bucks that light can go through etc. Yes you will have evaporation but I don't mind i just top up. But now I'm not worried about things falling in or the cat eating my fish or drinking the water lol. Just a tip, if the little clips are not fitting right just turn one piece around to another side and try again, it seems they were meant to go a certain direction. Good value.
