You’ll have to drill pilot holes. These don’t grip into wood very well. I used wood glue as well.

I like that these are self-tapping... just drill a small pilot hole in your material and then install. These are working just fine.

I used these two eye screws to mount the upper-side of a climbing net in my children's playroom. They are very well made, were easy to set in place, and look great as they are machined nicely and have a pleasing appearance. Recommended.

The material is softer than expected. In my application, the load is perpendicular to the shaft. The shaft has bent, but the load is only about 35 pounds. (The eye hook screwed horizontally into a wall with the load hanging down from it.) I don't know what would happen if the load was in a straight line with the shaft.
