Product Description

The 3M Particulate Filter 2096, P100, with Nuisance Level Acid Gas Relief helps provide respiratory protection against exposure to lead, asbestos, cadmium, arsenic, and MDA. The filter is effective for concentrations up to 10 times the Permissible Exposure Limit (PEL) with half facepieces, or 50 times PEL with quantitatively fit tested full facepieces. This filter helps protect against a wide range of oil and non-oil based particulate contaminants. The filter also offers nuisance level odor relief from acid gases that are below the PEL. Nuisance level refers to concentrations not exceeding OSHA PEL or other applicable government exposure limits, whichever is lower. Do not use for respiratory protection against acid gases or in environments that are immediately dangerous to life or health (IDLH). Inventory needs and training requirements of safety equipment are reduced because this filter works for many different applications. This filter is commonly used in the following industries: mining, primary metals. The filter works with a wide range of facepieces, including 3M Half and Full Facepieces 6000, 7000 and FF-400 Series. If used with 3M Adapter 502, the filter may also be used with 3M Respirator 5000 Series or 3M Cartridge 6000 Series. If used with the 3M Scott AV-632 Bayonet Adapter, the filter may be used with the 3M Scott AV-3000 HT and AV-3000 SureSeal facepieces. The filter is NIOSH (National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health) approved for environments containing certain oil and non-oil based particles. The filter has been assigned the color code “Magenta” in the NIOSH system. Passing NIOSH’s P-series test criteria, the 2096 P100 filter provides at least 99.97 percent filter efficiency against particles. Breathing hazardous particles can pose a risk to your health. NIOSH, a Federal government regulatory agency, has tested and approved the 3M Particulate Filter 2096 to help reduce exposure to certain particles.

I've worked 'under mask' professionally a lot of the years of my career. I'd like to save money, but when my health is at stake I still go with brands I know and trust. I became familiar with 3M respirators and filters decades ago and have trusted them ever since.

I did a lot of heavy sanding on a wood and epoxy charcuterie board at a workshop class. Attached to my 3M mask, it made for a nice comfortable experience.

These are what I'd call "light duty" vs. the other version of the same thing which is heavier, thicker tho smaller. If you need to replace them on daily/weekly basis.. those are to get.. but if you replace them after a year of use, I'd go for the thicker ones.. as they are less prone to tears when in your bag.

I have more confidence in these than some of the other knockoffs. Well worth the higher price, I just wish they were a little less expensive. Either way, i am sticking with these.

Bought for lapidary use. What can I say, they’re good particulate filters and do their job. It was an added bonus that P100 rated filters just happen to be pink lol. (Photos include my respirator & P100 filters, respirator sold separately).

Been using them when cutting stone in a rock saw. Can definitely notice a difference in the enclosed basement when I take them off.

I am a hobbyist woodworker and discovered last year that I have a pretty nasty reaction to saw dust from Western Red Cedar. Coughing and runny nose that can last half the day after a limited exposure.A pair of these filters, paired with a Half Facepiece Respirator are a real wonder. I don't smell a thing and breathe easy. Now I can work with Cedar without worry. This is actually my second respirator and set of filters. My wife discovered my respirator and likes to use it when she is refinishing old furniture. She used it so much I told her to keep it, I would buy another.
