I feel better than I have this thing to handle snakes or any other dangerous animals I may come across. I've also been looking for one of these reacher things that was sturdier than what you can normally get on Amazon. Since this unit has metal jaws and a sturdier build, I can use this to grab other things as well without worrying about breaking any plastic parts.

My hubby accidentally mowed over a snake and it didn't survive. He feels really bad about it. We have a lot of garter snakes in our yard and we don't mind at all. They are good for the garden and will eat slugs.Every so often they get somewhere that you don't really want them to be. This is a great tool for helping them move to another location.When we first opened it my hubby thought it would hurt the snake so I had him put his finger in it while I clamped it down and he said, "Oh that's not bad at all!"I tried it myself just to be sure. It's secure but not sharp.I also wanted this as a grabber for other things. When my hubby is trimming some of our big bushes, I want to have this to hold the branches that he is cutting so they don't fall over the fence into the neighbor's yard.There are other times I wished I had this. I was trying to thin some fruit on my fruit tree and couldn't reach some of them. This is just the thing for those moments.The handle is pretty good. The lock got stuck on me a few times and then it was a little hard to lock it back up, but it's not bad.The tool doesn't feel super top quality. There is some wiggle to it. But it will definitely be helpful and hopefully we'll not lose anymore snakes to the lawnmower.

This is the best "pick things up off the floor" gadget out of the 8 or so I've owned. It's built in a very robust way, and its design is much better than most. It's made for snake "relocation" and handling, but it works great to get the T.V. remote back from the Bandersnatch and also can help an old guy struggling with socks and shoes.
