Pros:- Light weight- Easy to use and mold to any break or sprain- Can be cut for finger injuries- ReusableCons:- Little bulky for ultralight backpacking; got it down to about 3 ¼” round by 4 ¼” long rollSAM Splints, with a quality wrap, are part of my individual first aid kit when off the beaten path.

how someone can write a review having never used an item... well that's beyond me. and complaining because it's too big? this material is made toA-be folded over for extra structural rigidity.B-be cut with trauma shears.having spent the last 18 years as either a paramedic, navy medic, or ER nurse, this stuff is your best splinting alternative to full blown casting material.-it's lightweight-it's compact-it's easily moldable-anyone can use itif you want to have a serious medic kit, get this stuff and practice with it. practice with all your emergency medical supplies. get a book or go on Amazon or check out videos.

This will be added for my non-field med. kits. Hope to never have to take of an injury that requires a splint this size, but it's good to be prepared. Looks like it would be comfortable and pliable. By the way - the Rescue Essentials' service is awesome. The item is about four stars (i.e. - I was not madly in love with it), but the seller's service is what took it to five.

Luckily we've not had to use it yet, but like the size and how it is package makes it easy to pack when hiking.
