Here on our farm, we can find many uses for a bit like this. The carbide makes it relatively strong enough to last a lifetime of use. We've used it on the stainless-steel sink to put in a new faucet, and worked on our "hobo" grill and the bit still looks brand new.

I have a few reamers, even some covering this range of sizes, but this one is longer than those at ~5.5". What this means is the slope is very gradual, so it allows you to slowly make a hole larger in addition to making cleaning it of burrs. It's a heavy bit, and came in a nice protective plastic slide together square case, so you can take it with you without being concerned about protecting it. I recommend using cutting oil for effectiveness and to protect the longevity of the bit. Very nice reamer.

I've not used many of these, but compared to the few I am familiar with, this one is on par with any other. Does the job.

PROS: Nice addition to any machining tool set, heavy duty, long, sharp and well made reamer, fits and smooths out holes in metals from about 3/8th's of inch to 3/4 of an inch. CONS: Seems industrial grade, but, unknown longevity if used daily without lube or cooling applied, shaft is 1/2 inch so it won't fit smaller sized chucks or milling machines. Overall great value for a nicely made reamer. Enjoy!

There are some tools that classify as, "when you need it, you need it." That certainly describes the ColumPRO 5/8" AlCrN Coated Bride Construction Reamer Drill Bit offered through Amazon Vine.In my case, I was installing bull gates on 4" X 4" steel posts, and needed to ensure that the hinges were drilled accurately. After making the initial holes with a step drill, I cleaned them up with the ColumnPRO reamer and the hinges fit perfectly.Overall, the ColumPRO Reamer Drill Bit is a terrific tool. I may not use it every day but when I need it I'll know it's waiting in my tool box.

I enjoy fabricating and welding up all my own metal projects. And I already had a reamer like this one, only in the 1/2 inch size that I use quite a bit just to take out that little bit of material that keeps my bolts from sliding in the holes perfectly. But every once in a while, I would wish I had a larger size. And this one is perfect as it picks up where the 1/2 inch size leaves off. I mounted a small "T" handle on mine as I never really need to take off more than a shaving or so. And it cuts just fine for that little bit I need. It should last a long time and stay sharp as long as you don't over heat it when using it in a drill motor. Use a bit of oil on it too, to prevent rust and help keep it sharp. And always keep it in a tube or wrapped in something to protect the cutting edges from chips or other damage. In my opinion, most of these reamers get dull because of damage caused by poor storage not from actual cutting.

I plan to use this with a magnetic base frame drill to straighten out mounting holes in the frame rails of class 6, 7, and 8 heavy trucks. This is a serious reamer and will not catch or hang up like a regular drill bit when used as I mentioned.It comes with a protective plastic case that will live comfortably in my tool box.

It's a well designed and manufactured bit that allows me to get that little bit extra diameter hole cut rather than over-boring with a larger drill bit. This allows for better tolerances and fitment of projects with a much more professional finish. It can be used in a standard 1/2" drill or drill press as needed and performs great.
