I love this mill. It produces a buttery smooth finish, even on mild steel. The image shown is 1018 steel after a 0.7mm deep cut on a bench mill. No problems whatsoever. And that is just with the provided inserts, which I don’t believe are intended for steel. You can buy heavier duty inserts designed for steel separately. I did chip the inserts once, but that was because I didn’t properly secure the work. I just rotated them 90 degrees, and can do so two more times before I’ll need new inserts. The head fits perfectly into the arbor, although it isn’t perfectly symmetrical, so if it doesn’t fit, you need to rotate it 180 degrees. I saw another reviewer claiming it didn’t fit at all, and I’m not sure if the manufacturing tolerances aren’t great and that was true for theirs, or it was like mine and they didn’t think to rotate it.This is well worth the money in my opinion. I haven’t tried it on hard steel with the heavier duty inserts, but I don’t see any reason why it would fail to perform well as long as the inserts are up to the job.

I wasn’t expecting much for $50 but it also was not at all what I was hoping for. The carbide inserts are extremely brittle so they chip super easily. It does a horrible job with steel and the surface finish is super jagged. The performance on aluminum is fantastic though, I don’t run feed rates or depth of cut anywhere as fast and deep as I would with a high quality face mill but it does give a really nice surface finish. Definitely if you’re expecting a good quality face mill you’re not going to get one for $50.

Made clean cuts on 6 inch wide aluminum plate. I milled off an 1/8 inch step 2 inches x 6 inches in few passes...nice tool!

Out of the box all of the bits have chips, some worse than others.

Really nice. Just got this for my PM25MV Mill. These are really good for face milling, because of the wide cutter face and the position of the inserts. The inserts looks like uncoated Carbide (comes with 4). Works great on Aluminum, haven't tried it yet on Steel. For the price it's great at $44.99 (Jan 24-2021). The Shaft runout is Zero. Now the inserts 2 are at 0 and the other 2 are .002" high. Not a deal breaker. The Shaft is steel and the head (which holds the Inserts) is Anodized Aluminum. It works. You should always run Face Mills full length of the part anyways. The trailing Inserts of the Face Mill running off the end of the part is usually what gets you that great finish. I worked with 7075 Aluminum today and the finish is just awesome. Get this one before the price goes up.
