Got this to fix some stripped out threads on the aluminum body of my snowblower (for the electric starter). I was using it to repair 1/4"-20 threads. Generally it worked great.The drill bits seemed very sharp and cut aluminum just fine. I had to drill free hand with a hand drill, which is always risky in aluminum.The tap worked fine also, but I was tapping a blind hole, so could only get so deep. But it was enough.I ran into a quality issue with the insert tool, the slot in the end of it was two tight for tang the insert. For the first insert I just used the next size up for the insert tool. I did have a little difficulty getting it out, like others have reported. On the second insert, I spread the slot on the correct insert tool with a screwdriver, and it went in all right. But not sure how much of that the tool can take...I had an issue with one insert where, after successful insertion, the bolt would jam up in the hole after a few turns. So I had to learn how to remove a helicoil insert...I used a screw extractor. I suspect I hadn't tapped the hole deep enough, fearing I was bottoming out in the blind hole, and not wanting to strip the hole; but I gingerly got a few more turns out of the tap, and the replacement helicoil then worked just fine.I was well aware this did not come with the tap handle tool needed for the tap, and had my own to use; but as it turned out I didn't have the clearance for any of my tap handles, and had to improvise with a universal socket. I wish they would put hex heads on the taps, instead of a square cut, so this would be easier!This is an awesome deal, when you think of what you are getting, so if you can live with "bargain" level tools, this is great to have around when you need it.
