304 stainless steel is just barely attracted to a magnet or not at all. These rods however are strongly attracted to a magnet almost like a regular carbon steel. They may have been made from a stainless steel, but not from 304 grade.Other than that they look OK. They are 12" long and thread into 1/4-20 nuts just fine. However both major and pitch thread diameters are slightly below the tolerance zone for the 2A class thread. I see it a lot in Chinese fasteners, they may have different specs than we use in USA.

These stainless steel threaded rods are exactly as stated. Seems good stainless steel and threads are very clean. I will be using these in some diy projects. Good value I will buy again.

I cut these up to be used as studs in concrete block walls for mounting vent covers. We'll see how well they work since they should not rust in changing weather conditions.

"Stainless steel is a corrosion-resistant alloy of iron, chromium and, in some cases, nickel and other metals."I like to keep a variety of these on hand for various purposes. The higher content of chromium makes these rods harder than iron rods so they will be more difficult to cut. I am very impressed with the extremely low magnetic properties of these rods. I received (4) 1/2" rods in excellent condition.Cheers

To those who cried foul saying this is not stainless: 304 stainless can be somewhat magnetic, especially if the item has been work hardened. Threads on a threaded rod can be cut, but most likely formed, hence the work hardening. These rods are magnetic indeed, but not to the extent that a carbon steel rod is magnetic. Test it again, and compare with a regular carbon steel bolt. There is a huge difference. Better yet, dunk the 304 stainless along with a carbon steel sample in salt water for a couple days and note the difference.Good threaded rod, recommended.
