Read up on this in a tool review and it performed perfectly. Used it in a shadow box table design to hide the screw heads perfectly. Will be using this more often in my custom projects. Built to last.

Works as expected

Nicely done. Good control with a hand held drill. The plugs seem a little narrower of what is needed for specific sizes. Not a big deal but it is noticeable.

Just what I wanted.

Do not buy this if you are plugging softwoods.... That point destroys most of the plugs and you have to go slow... Not much for production

These are the only plug cutters I have ever used, but they do exactly what I want...cut a plug.

I have used the plug cutters several times. They bore flawlessly, but be careful not to bear down too hard with the drill press, especially when using hardwood. The resulting plug will burn, which becomes a problem regardless of your application. The "small issue" is that I had not anticipated that the plug would be slightly conical and, for my application, created a more involved extraction from the bored blank. The resulting plug tapers from the tip to the base of the cutter, the largest diameter [of course] being at the tip, which is at the deepest penetration of the cutter into the blank. I also assumed [prior to purchase] that the diameter at the tip of the cutter would be the identical with diameter of the hole I drilled in my application [both the cutter and the forstner bit I used are manufactured by Rockler]. It was not. If, like mine, your application makes it difficult or impossible to trim the plug once inserted and glued, there are only three options: [1] risk marring the surface, into which the plug has been inserted, during the trimming process, [2] make a precise measurement to slice the blank at the top of the plug (which is most deeply embedded in the blank) and then trim the bottom of the plug, if length is critical, or [3] slice the blank by trial and error until the plugs are a suitable length. I used a table saw for slicing; a band saw might be safer for most people, although I have issues with blade drift. Since this was my first experience with cutting and extracting plugs, I didn't have appropriate measuring devises to do well at option [2]. Although I was extremely close on plug length on my first test try, a second try was necessary to get the appropriate plug head diameter [obviating the need for trimming]. I since have invested in better measuring devices, which I probably needed anyway, and have gotten it right on my second and third projects where trimming the plugs was impossible. Note: Boring the cutter into a blank the width of the desired plug length does not work. The cutter completely penetrates the blank prior to reaching the desired diameter. Update: Since my initial review, I tried inserting the forstner bits into the cutters [I have several diameters of each] to determine where to slice the blank to get the best fit. This was difficult due to the center spring pin in the cutter. I abandoned the effort.

Versatile set with three common plug sizes. Cutters were sharp and precise. Very satisfied.
