I will qualify this by saying that I am an absolute newbie in this field. All of the scraps felt to be of good quality. There were dark brown, tan, white-grey, and black scraps in the bag. The biggest piece was probably around 700 square inches if I had to guess. Seems like a worthy purchase to me, especiallly as a beginner at crafting from leather. Some of the pieces are small, but none so small as to be unusable.

I’m super happy with this bundle I got! Lots of large pieces varying in thickness and texture. I was very excited about the fun purple and pink leathers! There’s two smaller white pieces of leather that are very soft and supple. I think this was a great value for all that you get, especially for a beginner like myself. I highly recommend!!

I've purchased the 3lb bag 3 times. The first bag was a decent bag with a nice assortment of usable pieces. It even came with 3 12×12 squares of leather in the same exact color and thickness. This is what prompted me to order again, hoping for the same luck or assortment. The second one came and was a huge disappointment. There was only black and gray pieces with one s/m size blue piece. Every piece had markings on it or was discolored with spots throughout the pieces. One piece even had a large hole in the middle of the leather. There was a small 9x4 piece in a very nice baby blue pebbled leather that I liked although it has a pen line around one edge; this piece is the only reason I did not return the second package. Now I know I should have stopped there, but I was still holding out hope I would get another good batch, so I ordered a third 3lb assortment. Big mistake! There was not one usable piece in it. It was all black with one bluish gray piece, all were the wrinkled remnants of a hide with 1-2 inches being much thinner than the rest of the piece. Needless to say, it's a gamble and you may or may not receive usable pieces. If you want to practice stitches or see how different conditioners or leather cleaners work, this may be an option, an expensive option but one nonetheless. I will not be purchasing again. NOTE: The sender includes a card in every package that tells you to contact them FIRST before leaving a review of you are unhappy. However, based on the reviews and others reaching out to them first, they do nothing to resolve your dissatisfaction other than let you know you can purchase whole sheets of leather from then instead of the assortment bag. This is truly a take a gamble purchase.

The remainder pieces I was happy with, unfortunately they put a large piece in that was fake leather, shedding fabric it comprised 1/3 of order

I got this to make shoes for 18" dolls, and possibly a few little purses as well. I must admit I was nervous having read several reviews with "all tiny pieces" - but decided to give it a try. My pieces are all good sized. There are two long (about 24 inch) strips about 1 1/2 wide - not sure what I'll do with those but they seem to have lots of possibilities.the pieces are uneven and have some smaller areas but I've also found plenty of nice big areas - altho I've only made three pair of shoes and four purses so far - and have only used the darker brown leather. Thrilled to find one piece of "off white" as well as one lighter tan and some black. For me, this is doll shoe heaven. The leather is easy to cut with a good pair of all purpose scissors. Haven't had good luck sewing on it - so my doll purses were more "craft" type - - but the little girls they are going to won't care. I do want to try embroidering on it - but need to "work up the nerve" and mostly just need more time to play with this stuff.Sorry, don't have a photo of the little shoes I've made. The leather was soft enough that it did well "rounding" smoothly on the small toe area.

This is my second purchase from this company, but certainly not the last! My 3lb bag had just 5 pieces in it. One was what I would call small to medium rectangular. Two were long rectangles, more than suited to belts, making cords, bracelets, watch straps, etc. The final two pieces were irregular, but massive! I am again putting these to one side for the moment, as they are just too good to waste on small items. These deserve to be used on something special. Reupholstering a stool or chair would be easy. I am even thinking they could be used to make a jacket or other clothing with a little creativity, something big like that for them? Incidental!y rubbing alcohol will take a finish off the leather so it becomes absorbant and can be dyed. Then you wax it again or similar to make it waterproof again. The leather again seems to be very high quality, with a lovely leather smell. It is all about 1mm thick, with a smooth, polished outer surface. They were black and dark browns. Earlier I got the most wonderful big piece of London tan (a light, golden brown like English horse tack is before it gets oiled), although that too was about 1mm thick, soft and flexible. Thanks to this company, I have never been so spoiled for choice! I understand that it is the luck of the draw, and I feel sorry if you get smaller pieces and not many colors. But when you think a hide of this quality is likely to be $100+. During a personal disaster, I lost a lot of things, including all of my leatherworking tools and craft leather. I never had enough money to replace the stuff. Now I bought a basic set of tools for $16 from Amazon and two lots of this wonderful leather. So now i can make things again for just $50, less than half of a skin, and that includes even basic tools!I know some are disappointed by holes in the leather, today I got my first one, but it was in a corner and is no real loss. What you have to remember is where leather really comes from. It is not plastic and so uniform all the time, it truly is organic and so will contain imperfections from things like scars from barbedwire injuries or whatever. Even problems when processing the skins. This is part of leather and if you cannot use it as a "feature" in some way, then you have to work around it. Problems are unfortunate, but you have to accept them as part of the hobby or business.I thank the suppliers for giving me access to such wonderful leather, I would never be able to afford it otherwise.
