Mine worked great for a while, then one day the cans wouldn't stay in place. The lever was a little difficult to remove, although there was enough room. Finally pulled the lever and took a good look at it- there is a small plastic toggle, shown in the picture to the right of the white sleeve and turned to a 45 degree angle to the lever to make it more visible- normally it would be against the lever or the hub. It's meant to keep the lever from coming off when it's lifted to remove the can. If it's flipped down the lever is easy to remove, but if it's left up against the lever then the white sleeve binds when the lever is removed, and eventually becomes loose.Once I saw the problem and tightened the screw holding the sleeve it worked fine. If you buy one of these and there's no toggle, it should be returned because the lever will pop off when removing the opened can.The Seller should have the instructions available for download on the product page, it would make things a lot easier. As far as the noise issue goes, if you try running it before it's mounted under the cabinet you'll find the noise level is about the same as a countertop opener- mounting it under the cabinet amplifies it quite a bit.

I have it all the way in the back and it is super. Black and Decker stopped making theirs and this is slimmer anyway. Is it loud? A bit. But I'm not running it for an hour. Everything on it is great. Who said it is hard to install? The spacers are the perfect template for where to drill the holes. Use a 7/32 drill bit and you're off the the races!! That round thing next to it? For coffee filters.

The can opener was easy to install under the cabinet but has been ear-piercingly loud since we got it. After trying to open a really large can, the can opener has not worked as well, it just doesn’t grasp onto cams like it did at first and we have only had it for a couple of months

This can opener is new to me. It seems to work very well, doing its intended job as planned. So far, so good. However, there is an interesting design issue I discovered after installation. There is a handle on the lever that facilitates up/down movement of the lever for can lid cutting. It also moves the lever fully upward for removal to clean. When the lever handle is in the lid cutting position, all is good. It does a great job. But, the lever handle is long enough that when in the full upward removal position, the cabinet under which the opener is mounted blocks full handle upward movement and removal of the lever. Thus, I cannot remove the lever for cleaning. Unacceptable. However, there are solutions. One is to mount the opener far enough out from the cabinet edge so that the cabinet does not block handle movement. Another is to use all the included spacers to lower the opener down enough so that the handle clears the cabinet. It all depends on your cabinet design. Then there's the nuclear option, which is to cut off about 1/2" (13mm) from the end of the handle. That'll solve the problem the hard way. I choose to use all the included spacers to lower the opener from the cabinet. After re-installation, it is still not lowered quite enough but I can force the handle with a bit of effort. The included mounting bolts are easily long enough to accommodate additional spacers. A project for another day. I can live with this for now. Can. I said "can". Sometimes I just crack myself up! Cheers!

This can opener is a piece of garbage. Don't waste your money. I spent weeks trying to find something affordable to replace my 20 year old GE that was a workhorse. This is what I decided on.... WHAT A MISTAKE!!!The instructions were nonexistent for installation, the screws were the wrong size and had my husband used them, they would have destroyed the cabinet. This thing is giant, hanging down a good 8 inches below the cabinet and NOISY, so loud. The worst part was trying to get it to actually cut the lid off of a can. It would growl and groan, the little wheel would spin, but NO CUTTING!! The magnet wouldn't work to hold the can up and pulled out of the mechanism when I pulled the can away. All it succeeded in doing was gnawing the entire edge of the can until it was a mess and making it easy to cut myself in the process. And when I finally got it to make some progress, it wouldn't complete the job... I had to physically remove the lid by prying it back and forth until it snapped off. What a nightmare.I thought maybe it was just me and I needed to get used to it....bigger mistake. By the time my husband got it installed and I gave it a few times thinking it would get easier or better, the 30 day return window had closed. So NOPE. No return. And good luck trying to find any contact info for Elitra Home, no phone number, no email address, like they don't even exist. I guess I should have known when I opened the Amazon box and the can opener box said ELECTRICAL CAN OPENER. Haha! I guess it's definitely "electrical," depending on your installation?Anywho..... just don't be an idiot like me, thinking you'll get a good product like you used to have, because they definitely don't make them like they used to... Live and learn.

For those of us who are replacing a 25-30 year old Procter Silex (what I had) or Black and Decker opener this opener is just a bit different. It has all the features the older models had and it is very sturdy BUT it is loud. Loud enough the neighbor's little dog turns and looks at the house when I use it. I wasn't impressed when I first used it but after giving it a fair chance (and me too - to get used to it) it turns out to be be not a bad opener for the price. I am a bit of a picky purchaser and I have arthritic hands and often open odd shaped cans which are a bit awkward but if you are patient it does work well. If it was quieter and the opener handle had a stopper to keep it from coming off as easily as it does I would have given it a 5 star rating. The cord storage is a nice feature that was not on the older models. The delivery was very quick and I have not had to contact the supplier. NEW - now that I have been using this for a few months I have to say my earlier review was overly optimistic. The blade is starting to dull, it is starting to stall or bind if the labels on cans are a bit thicker and if the cans are a better quality it just wont work. I feel it is not a worth while long term purchase.

Our last under the counter one was a Proctor silex and it lasted us well over 25 years till the handle broke .unfortunately they don't make them any more but Black & decker does if you want to pay minimum 8 times the cost of this one.it works GREAT it just has 1 glitch if you lift the handle all the way up to the top it wants to come off to easily.so for $1.50 I went to the dollar store and bought some little round stick on rubber bumper pads and put one on the bottom of the handle where it hits the stop and now its great no problems. If I want to clean it I just take it off and then put another one on it.do yourself a favorer and save a lot of money buy one of these not the only other one.
