Hornwort, also known as Coontail, has sturdy, layered hair-like foliage that helps oxygenate and clarify the water as well as keep algae growth to a minimum. It is found free-floating worldwide, in moving and still waters, or loosely anchored in muddy bottoms. The tips will shorten and thicken in fall, before falling off and settling on the pond floor to spend the winter as buds. In spring, these buds grow to repopulate the pond. Hornwort leaves are dark green and grow from a 1/2 to 1-1/2 inches long on stems that can reach 24 inches in length. They may be potted or just left to float in the pond. You will receive several stems in one bunch tied with at the bottom. You can plant as is or you can release them and allow them to float. These plants need at least 8 hours of light per day and they absorb nutrients through its stems so they do not root. Approximate Purchase Size: 6" to 8"

Product arrived quicker than originally indicated. Received 3 large bunches, with no unwanted creatures! There was a lot of brown foliage, which is why 3 stars. I soacked and rinsed plants 4 times, to get the dead out. Time will tell on how well they will do.5/26/2024 UPDATE:The plants are thriving! They are getting bigger and fuller.

Second order, first review on the 3 bunches of Hornwort pond plant. Both shipments arrived quickly by standard post. Thank you! Both orders had minimal browning but plants perked up once rinsed and added to pond. All plants doing well, placed at floor of pond and at mid-level. My XL goldfish and Med Koi all enjoy these plants, hiding and sleeping in/around them. As for fast growing...TBD. Have had first plant order in pond a month now. I don't see any obvious growth, but plants are alive and well. Second order added to pond 3 days ago.If you are needing an oxygenator plant for your med pond (700gal), I recommend an order or 2 of these bundles! NOTE, when ordering/shipping, keep your temps in mind as warmer weather and longer shipment will affect the quality and life of your plants in route.*For reference; I am 7 hours away from seller in CA. These orders both arrived in 4-5 days with my temps being in high 60s-low 70s in mid March.

I received the plants quickly, however they were very brown in the package. when i opened the plastic a horrible smell came out . I gently placed the plants in a gallon jug of fish tank water. after gently swishing i tried to remove the plants using the metal binding. they fell apart and had only stems with few leaves. one bundle only had stems about one inch long , and those were soft and mushy. I tossed out the jug with the leaves outside because the smell was bad.I did put the plants in my hospital tank thinking they might grow. After about two weeks i had to do a total cleaning of the tank , filters, gravel.every thing turned further brown and mushy. the plants i tried to rescue smelled really bad and the leaves that it did have fell off and covered the gravel and clogged the filters. I have thrown the rest of the plants away so I don't see how i can ask for a refund.

I’m kind of 50-50 with this stuff. I bought it several times. It either arrived poorly and died out or hit the ground running perfect. Absolutely exactly what I needed and wanted. Good luck for the price worth a try not terrible not great three out of five

I was attempting to resolve a fish tank problem of two giant plecostomus totally destroying and wreaking havoc in a 50 gallon tank. They would rip out and Destroy any plant I put in there they would knock over caves, and eat any plant I put in there. This plant is beautiful it flows with the water doesn't make a big mess and best of all the plecostomus leave it alone! Item was exactly as described by the seller and arrived exactly on time and well packaged. Definitely would buy again or recommend to others.

It says they are for ponds, but they did not thrive in my pond. They all turned brown and eventually died.

I ordered the Hornwort Bunch Plants for my Aquarium. When they arrived, they didn’t look healthy and were a dark brown color. Since the description said they can be acclimated for aquariums and they will turn lighter green over time, I went ahead and put them in my tank. Within a week I couldn’t even find them. The plants literally disintegrated and left a brown film all over the tank.Because of the numerous negative reviews, I was concerned that I would not be able to get a replacement. I contacted the seller and explained what happened. I got an immediate reply stating that they would send me replacements. Those plants arrived within three days and were noticeably much healthier. It has been four weeks, and I am happy to report that they are all thriving. They are a nice addition to my tank, and provide extra coverage and hiding places for my Angelfish.
