I got these not knowing what to expect due to a lack of detail in the product description. My project is headphone related. Theses are super LOUD as headphones. Very loud high range. However, they have practically no bass. Mid range is what you should expect from a plastic speaker. Sure you can hear some bass if you put your ear directly to them but at any appreciable volume the over powered high range will make your ears bleed. If you try to use these as headphones they'll make you deaf.Most of these types of speakers have breathable cloth over the port holes on the back, it'll just look like a black circle on the back but it's just the same design as this one with cloth. All of these little plastic speakers are designed the same. Adding cloth will increase the bass response a teeny bit, so will covering the speaker diaphragm with the same breathable cloth to limit the high frequencies (which are ear piercing high on these). These should be considered unfinished speakers they do not have cloth covering the port holes.Mid range at full volume is about 3 ft. Any farther than 3 feet away and they become high range tinny sounding tweeters with zero bass or mids. I would not consider this as a full range speaker or woofer. It can be turned into one with some work.These are definitely the loudest plastic diaphragm speaker I've heard and they're only 0.5W not 1 or 2 watts. They sound as loud as 1-2 watt's that's for sure. Depending on your application that might be a good thing. Laptop speakers for example. They are very low profile at about 6mm in depth and 2" in diameter. They'll fit into very thin spaces so there is always a need for that kind of thing. As a CB speaker, phone speaker, chimes, tones or any application that requires only mid to high range at very close distance I could see these being just OK.Poor item descriptions, not listing specifications or datasheet. If the seller would have listed a decibel and Hz range I wouldn't have purchased them. They do not suit my project parameters. Just because they don't suit my needs doesn't mean these things won't be great in your project.

I ordered the speaker to repair an expensive, talking halloween decoration. The speaker went out but everything else was operational. Instead of spending a couple of hundred dollars on a new decoration I decided to repair it. The speaker fit in perfectly in the original speaker slot. I soldered the wires and used beads of hot glue to hold in place. It works great, maybe better than the original one. Be aware, this speaker is good for vocals or soft music. Don't expect to get bass punch or operate at extremely high volume. It is comparable to a clock radio speaker.

Nice set of small speakers. I used this to playback voice files on a custom portable device and the sound was loud and clear. Thin profile makes it useful for all kinds of electronic projects. I bought two more sets to stock my lab.
