We recommend use of Teflon tape to ensure seal of the threading, as shown in Figure 1. It is suitable to liquids, gases and even for high vacuum.

Brass Reducer Hex Nipple Adapter
Reducing hex nipple for connecting two threaded pipes and fittings with different diameters as well as extending pipe length; It can be used with grease, fuels and natural gas, refrigeration, instrumentation and hydraulic systems in low and medium pressure pipe line connections.
These fittings are made of brass, which is considered more durable for heavy-duty use. Threads used on these nipples are NPT.

Reviewing: 2pcs 1/2" NPT x 1/4" NPT Brass Nipple, 1/2 to 1/4 Adapter Fitting Reducing Solid Hex Brass Nipple, Brass 1/2 Male to 1/2 Male Reducer Brass Pipe Fittings for Extending and Connecting Pipes These nipples are well-made (no burrs or sharp edges), and the sizes are correct. They work as intended. The only reason they lost a star is because the price is a little high at $4.50 each.

These are 2pcs 3/4" NPT x 1/2" NPT Brass Nipple Adapters. The finish is smooth and they are thick brass. Threads are clean and no burrs in the openings. I am happy with the order.
