This box is a replacement for a cast iron smoker box. The box works much better than my cast iron box as there are many more holes in the box. The box fits well on my burners but I was hoping that the tapered bottom would fit between my burners and it doesn't. The box would have worked better if the bottom was narrower so it could slide down into the burner are a little farther. I wanted to use both boxes but the larger box won't fit under my grate. The set would have been more useful to me if both the boxes were the same smaller box instead of one small and one large.

Well made, solid construction! They really work well to infuse your BBQ with smokey goodness.I'm admittedly an on-again-off-again grilling enthusiast, so I'm not sure I need two of these, especially the larger one. I only cook for myself and maybe a couple of guests. The smaller of the two is more than sufficient for my 4 burner propane grill.I've used it to smoke some vegan kielbasa links I made; set the sausages on the upper rack, loaded a handful of hickory chips, closed the grill vents and let the good times roll. And roll they did. Slow smoked those sausages over the course of an hour and a half and they came out 10x better than I expected.I'll definitely be using these more in the future. Next up? A Mesquite smoked "tur'ky" seitan loaf for Thanksgiving. Wish me luck!

There are times when I have preferred to use a good gas grill to cook and smoke pork ribs. Typically, I have simply wrapped wood chips in aluminum foil and placed the foil package over a flame to create smoke while the ribs are cooking. This wood chip smoker box kit is a much better way to do it than to use aluminum foil. The stainless steel boxes are heavy duty and high-quality. They hold plenty of wood chips. They heat up great and create a lot of smoke when placed over one of the burners.

I've had a cast iron smoker box I use with my gas grill from time to time. It works, but has several drawbacks. Only the top piece has smoke holes. It's heavy and the top is a separate piece that can fall off if it's picked up wrong (have to use grill gloves if it's hot). It also rusts easily. This set of smoker boxes solves those problems. The stainless steel won't rust, and the lids are hinged to the boxes. The boxes are lighter than cast iron, and have multiple slots for the smoke to exit. The two included lifting hooks go through both ends and lid, so they won't tilt over and spill when being moved. One additional feature is that having two boxes lets me get more smoke out and distribute it better. The clever design of having one box slightly smaller than the other lets them nest together and take up less storage space. I have only one minor concern about the rivets that hold the folded body sections together. They're pretty small, and I wonder if they might wear out or work loose at some point. I'm not too worried, though; if that should happen, they could easily be replaced with small stainless bolts.

I purchased these stainless steel chip smoker boxes to use with my new charcoal vertical smoker. You want to keep the chips for smoking in a separate container so when it heats up it doesn’t affect the overall heat of the smoker. When smoking beef or fish you want to keep the temperature between 160 and 200 degrees F for the best result. I like the idea that two separate size boxes were included. Yesterday, I smoked salmon, and used the smaller box that allowed enough wood chips, but fit in the fuel box of my smoker. It worked fine, and after about 2 ½ hours of cooking at 200 degrees F, the salmon was perfectly smoked. The boxes did not include instructions. But I knew that you had to soak the wood chips for a few hours before cooking with them, and I did that and I got the right amount of smoke to do the job.

I have 2 smoke tubes. They work as intended but they are an ash mess and tough to start and keep lit. This product is much better than a tube. The top hinges open and the bottom is not slotted. You just pour your chips in, get out your butane torch, and get it burning good on one end. Close the top and it stays lit. The solid bottom design limits the amount of extra ash everywhere that you always get with smoke tubes. This kit has 2 smoke boxes, one is slightly smaller than the other and actually fits inside it. It also comes with 2 hooks for moving it around when hot.The boxes are made of stamped thin metal. More than enough thickness for the intended purpose but not too heavy. The size is decent enough to put a good amount of chips in and also not take up too much room in the smoker.Buy a set of these and throw out your smoke tubes.
