This is good as a temporary string. Pretty thin but works well and is affordable. Not for long term play but lasts quit awhile.

Product says "Generic 1st A Single Cello Strings Carbon Steel Core Nickel Alloy Wound 4/4" but what arrived was a thin solid steel string, not a wound string. We tried requesting a replacement, thinking it was a shipping mistake, but the replacement was exactly the same. We tried to return the product but the replacement item gives no return option. This seller should not be allowed in Amazon. (The rating should be "zero" if Amazon allows a "zero" rating.)

I'm a beginner player and thought I might be able to buy a cheap string and not notice much difference in the tone. Unfortunately, this string has no texture and the tone has a noticeable slipping quality. It is very difficult to bow a fully resonating note. The good news is, it was cheap and I partly expected that. The other news is that I am buying another string again. Until the new string arrives, this one will be a good place holder so I know I am bowing the G string correctly and not hitting both notes.

I am the master of breaking strings as I learn to play the cello. Fortunately these are cheap strings and don't break the bank.

I just bought a cheap cello. And I'm still very much a nooby. So I can't really speak to the quality as far as tone or feel. It sounds ok to me.BUT I am really stoked because the A-string that came with my cello broke when I was tuning it up for the first time. Then I ordered a Prelude A-string and it broke right as I was tuning it up for the first time too. I didn't notice any burrs or anything on the nut or bridge so I think it was just the cheaper strings. But, again, I'm not a pro or even close to one. But I was actually able to tune this one up and try my new cello! So based on that alone, I give it 5 stars.Since I'm still new, I didn't want to spend too much on a string. I'll have no problem trying this again if I want a cheap replacement string.
