While I suppose there about a hundred different uses for something like this, I used them sandwiched between two fender washers on each side of a 3/8" bolt to mount some woodworking equipment to my workbench. The rubber helped to isolate some of the vibrations and noise, keeping it from traveling through the mounts to the bench. They are fairly thick, but, in retrospect, I might have wanted to double up on them. In case you're wondering like I was, the sides of the washers/bushings are flat, not convex like an o ring.

These arrived as expected, and are exactly what I wanted minus the odor. It's not that big of a deal, considering what they will be used for, but they do have a bit of a wang to them. They are supple and seemingly durable and should suffice for all the uses I have intended for them. The odor isn't terrible, especially if you were going to use them a couple at a time.
