Dive Reel

Why You Need A Diving Reel?

Reels are a diver's safety line. Wreck and cave divers use reels and safety lines.

  • A dive reel, wreck reel, or cave reel is the most popular way of carrying a line during a dive. Whether deploying a Delayed Surface Marker Buoy (DSMB), rowing into a wreck or cave, or even surveying a dive site, a reel should be part of every diver's gear.
  • A reel is an essential tool for divers, they can be used to keep you in touch with ground support, guide you back to a known starting point, or orient you during search and retrieval operations.
  • Sometimes the line can be hard to see underwater, especially if it's been left in place for a while in muddy conditions. When diving in a wreck or cave, the most important thing is that you know which way is the way out.
Wreck reel

High Visibility Retractable Line Diving Reel Great For Underwater Sports!

  • Cave or wreck dive reels are larger and heavier than other types of reels. They have a stronger line and can be attached to a buoy or floating device. They're ideal for underwater cave exploration or wreck diving.
  • When wreck and cave diving are Reel indispensable tools. You are the guide to your output and the connection to the surface.
Scuba handle reel

Pluzluce Diving Reel Special Features:

  • Reel Line: A nylon braided line is used because it's sturdy and it doesn't float. This is the type of line used on top-quality reels and spools and thus makes a great reel and spool line.
  • Thumb Holder: The diving reel with a thumb stopper allows easier control of lifting and releasing the line.
  • Anti-tangle: The spool axle is permanently attached to the frame. The spool locks in place with a thumb stop, helpful in sorting out line jams.
  • Plastic Handle: The design of our reel is easy to deploy and retrieve lines in any environment. A top-mounted handle allows divers to conveniently hold the reel and a light in one hand while winding the reel with the other.

Important Tips for Using Reels Underwater!

  • 1. Keep the thread taut to prevent possible tangles.
  • 2. Please carry a sharp wire cutter or knife when using the wire.
  • 3. Select the correct reel size and correct cord length for the task in question.
  • 4. Do not wind more thread on the spool than designed for - the spool will jam.
  • 5. If the line is rewound onto the reel while it is slack, unwind it and reload it under tension before using it. Badly wound reels can jam or the line can lock in the loose coils when released under tension.
  • 6. When deploying the DSMB, do not attach the reel to yourself. Be prepared to unwind the DSMB and reel if you have any winding issues when deploying the buoy.

Scuba Dive Reel Care and Maintenance

  • Rinse your dive reel with fresh water after every dive to remove salt and debris.
  • Dry the dive reel thoroughly to prevent rusting or corrosion.
  • Store your dive reel in a cool, dry place, free from moisture or direct sunlight.
  • Check your diving reel regularly for signs of wear and tear or damage. If you notice any cracks or damages, replace them immediately.

This is so much better than the clumsy things I have used, and sometimes built, to store, dispense and retrieve long string lines.

I know this is for scuba diving but I got to lower my gopro camera into the water and check out what some fishing spots look like under the boat. It has worked well for that and is okay to reel up. Definitely not the smoothest. The price is a little high for the lower quality and I'm not really sure I would trust the life of a diver in the hands of this if that's what you're getting it for. For my use though, it's great and I haven't had any major issues so far.

This is an inexpensive reel. It’s okay it has some good stops, but it feels cheap. I think it is only a mater of time before it brakes. There is no way to disengage the stop, which makes it hard to set out line. It’d be good for a dsmb, but it’s really long. Without the way for it to disengage the stop, it’s impossible to lay line unless it’s in your hand.
